[LINKEDIN] PYTHON: DATA ANALYSIS

Learn the most in-demand business, tech and creative skills from industry experts.

Course details

If you’re going to work with big data, you’ll probably be using R or Python. And if you’re using Python, you’ll be definitely using Pandas and NumPy, the third-party packages designed specifically for data analysis. This course provides an opportunity to learn about them. Michele Vallisneri shows how to set up your analysis environment and provides a refresher on the basics of working with data containers in Python. Then he jumps into the big stuff: the power of arrays, indexing, and DataFrames in NumPy and Pandas. He also walks through two sample big-data projects: one using NumPy to analyze weather patterns and the other using Pandas to analyze the popularity of baby names over the last century. Challenges issued along the way help you practice what you’ve learned.

Michele Vallisneri is a theoretical astrophysicist at NASA Jet Propulsion Laboratory.

He obtained his PhD in physics at the California Institute of Technology in 2002. His research spans the detection and interpretation of gravitational waves with LIGO, in space, and with pulsar timing. He is an expert in data analysis, Bayesian inference, and computational physics, and he believes that elegant, transparent programming can illuminate the hardest problems. He is a Fellow of the American Physical Society, and he was awarded the NASA Exceptional Scientific Achievement Medal.

[LINKEDIN] PYTHON PROJECTS BY BURKHARD MEIER

[LINKEDIN] PYTHON PROJECTS FREE DOWNLOAD

Course details

Strengthen your understanding of Python—the popular object-oriented language—by tackling a series of hands-on projects. In this course, Burkhard Meier explains how to work with Python 3.5 to create four distinct projects. To begin, Burkhard shows how to install the Eclipse IDE development environment with the PyDev plugin, as well as how to set breakpoints and use different debugging tools within Eclipse. He also shows how to translate classic design patterns into Python 3.5, create a GUI weather application with Tkinter, and write a Python Windows service that uses a scheduling mechanism to send out emails at set times.

Note: This course was created by Packt Publishing. We are pleased to host this training in our library.

Course Transcript

(light music) (loud click) – [Burkhard] Hi, and welcome to the Python Projects video course published by Packt Publishing. My name is Burkhard Meier, I’ve been working as a professional software test automation engineer for the last 16 years. For the last five years we’ve been using Python exclusively. I’m also the author of the Python GUI Programming Cookbook, published by Packt and available on amazon.com and packtpub.com. In this video course we will be using Python 3.5, we will be creating four distinct Python projects, we will get started with using Python, we will install the Eclipse IDE development environment, with the PyDev plugin and all required setup requirements. Then we will create small projects, first, both functional, then later object-oriented. We will show how to set breakpoints using the Python debugger and much more. Our second project is rather advanced, what we are doing here is we are translating the classic famous design pattern book into Python.

ABOUT THE COURSE

The Spring developers are always listening to feedback and feature requests. They have responded with Spring 5, a version that’s packed with exciting new enhancements. This course gets you up to speed with the latest and greatest in Spring Framework 5.0 and Spring Boot 2.0, including reactive Spring and Spring Actuator. Instructor Frank Moley covers the new support structure for Java 8 and Java EE 7, and explains which packages, classes, and methods have been removed. Next, learn about the changes to Servlet 3 and 4, data binding for immutable objects, and the spring-web-reactive module for reactive programming. Then explore the integration for Junit Jupiter, parallel test execution, and mock environments. Finally, review the changes in Spring Boot, including third-party library upgrades and Spring Boot Actuator for monitoring the health of production applications.

Topics include:

  • Spring core changes
  • Spring web changes
  • Spring test changes
  • Spring Boot changes
