## The durations of a random sample of 16 commercials are below (in seconds). find the mean, median, and mode of these durations. 30, 12, 26, 7, 14, 35, 20, 30, 55, 8, 35, 18, 42, 15, 30, 10

First arrange in ascending order of time:-

7, 8, 10, 12, 14, 15, 18, 20, 26, 30, 30, 30, 35, 35, 42, 55

MOde is the value occuring mos  = 30.

Median is the mean of 2 middle numbers = (20 + 26) / 2 = 23

Mean = sum of the 16 numbers  / 16  =  387/16  = 24.2

## You used three methods of analysis to find the acceleration of the cart on the track: a two-point difference from v(t), an average of a(t) that was itself calculated by a succession of first differences of the v(t) data, and a line fit to v(t). some criteria to help you consider which method is best are part a in which type of graph(s) is it easiest to see whether the acceleration was constant?

### Answered by answersmine AT 22/10/2019 – 02:29 AM

The best way to find that you want is the line fit. When acceleration is constant the speed(v) changes smoothly every moment, so the v line must be straight. Differently, the accelaration changes.

## Suppose that people’s heights (in centimeters) are normally distributed with a mean of 170 and a standard deviation of 5. We find the heights of 50 people.

We have
mean=mu=170
standard deviation=sigma=5

can now calculate the Zmin and Zmax using Z=(X-mean)/standard deviation
Zmin=(165-170)/5=-1
Zmax=(175-170)/5=+1
From normal probability tables,
P(z<Zmin)=P(z<-1)=0.15866
P(z<Zmax)=P(z<+1)=0.84134
P(165<x<175)=P(Zmin<z<Zmax)=0.84134-0.15866= 0.68269

## Find the coordinates of the midpoint of the segment whose endpoints are H(8, 13) and K(10, 9)

Answer:

The coordinates of the mid point  the line segment whose endpoints are H(8, 13) and K(10, 9) is (9, 11)

Step-by-step explanation:

Given: A line segment whose endpoints are H(8, 13) and K(10, 9)

We have to find the mid point of the line segment whose endpoints are H(8, 13) and K(10, 9).

Consider the given end points H(8, 13) and K(10, 9).

Using Formula for mid point, We have, Substitute, we have, Simplify, we have, Thus, The coordinates of the mid point  the line segment whose endpoints are H(8, 13) and K(10, 9) is (9, 11)

## Read the excerpt from “A Simple Way to Create Suspense”. For instance, heading toward a movie review program, I remember we asked: Who was the studio’s first choice for the Harry Callahan role in “Dirty Harry”? We knew most viewers would be intrigued. (What, Clint Eastwood wasn’t the first choice?) But—and this was the lesson—the success of the tactic didn’t depend on intrigue. Even viewers with no interest at all stuck around to find out. Humans are hard-wired. They need to know. Even viewers who knew the answer for sure stuck around, in order to be gratified. The gap was bridged, and the danger averted. (It was Frank Sinatra. You waited, right?) Which best describes this excerpt? The central idea of this excerpt is that Clint Eastwood was not the original choice for the Dirty Harry movie. The central idea of this excerpt is that intrigue is the most important way to create suspense. The author uses an analogy to compare his readers to the characters of a Hollywood movie. The author uses a personal anecdote to show that audiences are willing to wait for an answer.

Answer:

The option that best describes this excerpt is The author uses a personal anecdote to show that audiences are willing to wait for an answer.

Explanation:

At the beginning of the story he puts himself as part of a group and says “heading toward a movie review program, I remember we asked” … a moment of suspense is presented in that precise second with that question, it is mentioned that all people were expectantly waiting for the answer and waited until they heard it, during the process of suspense and expectation that also the reader lived at the end is trough a sentence that even the reader notices that all of us wait for an answer to an enigma no matter what.

## Find a model for simple harmonic motion if the position at t=0 is 0 the amplitude is 5 centimeters and the period is 4 seconds

Answer:

y = 5sin Step-by-step explanation:

Since harmonic motion is represented by the sine wave equation.

y = a sin (bx)

where a = amplitude

period = Amplitude of the harmonic motion is given as 5 and period is 4 seconds.

so a = 5

and 4 = ⇒ b = b = Now we replace the values of a and b in the sine equation

y = 5sin Categories
