Chandragupta Maurya founded the Maurya Empire. It was one of the empires of ancient times. He ruled over his empire actively and improve life by improving business and trade. He was succeeded by his son Bindusara. He became a Jain monk in the later phase of his life. His life and accomplishments are outlined in ancient Hindu, Greek texts and Buddhist but the details differ greatly from those in the Jain texts.
