For any nonzero real number a, the __________ of a is 1 over 8 . integer whole number multiplicative inverse absolute value

Answer:

C.8.22 hgeq$ 623

Step-by-step explanation:

We are given that Sophia is saving money for a new bicycle.

The bicycle will  cost atleast $623.

Sophia makes $8.22 per hour.

We have to find the inequality that could be used to find the number of hours Sophia needs to work to make enough money to buy a new bicycle.

Let Sophia works h hours to make enough money to buy a new bicycle.

Sophia makes money per hour =$8.22

Total money made by Sophia in h hours =8.22 h

According to question

8.22 hgeq $623

Hence, option C is true.

According to the Declaration of Independence, what does the king of England want to establish in America? A. A republic B. A new parliament C. Absolute tyranny D. A democracy

The Reformation actually started after Columbus’s landing in North America.

Treaty of Tordesillas in 1494 was forced on Spain and Portugal by the Pope. The Pope basically said that all lands in the New World belonged to Spain and all new non-Christian lands in the Eastern Hemisphere belong to Portugal. No other Catholic countries can do anything in those areas without the approval of the owner.

The pope basically drew two lines on the globe setting the border. The western line started at the north pole cut half way through Greenland and ended at the south pole. The new world was everything to the west. Problem is that it ran through a chunk of Brazil which is why Brazil is an ex-Portuguese colony.

The Eastern line starts at the North Pole runs through siberia, through the pacific just west of Japan, and cuts Australia in half. Of course, Australia hadn’t been discovered yet. Everything to the the east of this line is the new world.

Obviously, this treaty didn’t hold up well, but the reformation gave the protestant countries an excuse to explore the new world since they didn’t have to take orders from the Pope. Even so, France, a catholic country, ignored it too.

Really, the only country that was effected by the reformation in the exploration of the Americas was England. All the other countries, changed their religion once and then went to war with the nearest catholic country. Sweden became Lutheran and stayed that way. The Dutch Republic became Calvinists and stayed that way.

England kept switching. First it was Catholic. Then, Henry VIII made it protestant. Then, Henry’s daughter Mary I made it catholic again. Henry’s other daughter Elizabeth I (with the two hit movies) made it Protestant again.

Years latter, Oliver Cromwell over through the monarchy, executed the King Charles I, and established a Protestant fundamentalist religious military dictatorship. He outlawed drinking, smoking, gambling, theater, dirty books, sports, prostitution, and anything generally fun. He would have made Saudi Arabia proud. Basically, all you could do is work, pray, and die. Sex was allowed for creating children, but you couldn’t enjoy it.

When Cromwell died, the people of England said enough was enough and brought back the King. Charles II kicked out the fundamentalists and brought back drinking, smoking, gambling, dirty books, sports, prostitution, and having fun during sex. Incidentally, those were also all his hobbies.

This brings us to the famous Pilgrims. They were part of Cromwell’s crowd. They kept agitating a return to the no-fun policy. They annoyed everybody. They weren’t persecuted for practicing their religion, they were persecuted because they kept trying to force their religion on everyone else. Sort of like Southern Baptists.

Charles II was the most easy going monarch in British history. Do realize how annoying you have to be to get him to throw you out.

Charles’s brother James II was obsessed with turning Great Britain catholic again. After four years of trying, they kicked him and his followers out.

Which of the following was one of the ways Louis XIV increased his power as an absolute monarch? He encouraged religious freedom. He restricted government jobs to the aristocracy. He fought a series of successful wars across Europe. He brought nobles under his control.

Industrialization led to rising imperialism because
1) show of power: As one makes new technology, they would either want to test it out or show the other nations that what they produce is ground-breaking and the best. Usually if it is military technology, you would want to test it out, and with the use of “show of force”, can have people groups submit to your country.
2) Better technology: As technology advances, it usually makes something easier. In the case of imperialism, better military advances meant that they could (once again) have other people submit to you
3) Better transportation: This meant that you could take multiple countries at once, and can prove that you’re country is great by having supplies shipped over long distances to keep your troops up. If in need of more troops, you could send more.

hope this helps

Which statements are true about mean absolute deviation? Select all that apply. The mean absolute deviation is impacted by outliers. The mean absolute deviation is a measure of center of the data. The mean absolute deviation is a measure of variation, or spread, of the data. The lower the mean absolute deviation is, the more spread out the data points are from the mean. The higher the mean absolute deviation is, the more spread out the data points are from the mean.

The basis to respond this question are:

1) Perpedicular lines form a 90° angle between them.

2) The product of the slopes of two any perpendicular lines is – 1.

So, from that basic knowledge you can analyze each option:

a.Lines s and t have slopes that are opposite reciprocals.

TRUE. Tha comes the number 2 basic condition for the perpendicular lines.

slope_1 * slope_2 = – 1 => slope_1 = – 1 / slope_2, which is what opposite reciprocals means.

b.Lines s and t have the same slope.

FALSE. We have already stated the the slopes are opposite reciprocals.

c.The product of the slopes of s and t is equal to -1

TRUE: that is one of the basic statements that you need to know and handle.

d.The lines have the same steepness.

FALSE: the slope is a measure of steepness, so they have different steepness.

e.The lines have different y intercepts.

FALSE: the y intercepts may be equal or different. For example y = x + 2 and y = -x + 2 are perpendicular and both have the same y intercept, 2.

f.The lines never intersect.

FALSE: perpendicular lines always intersept (in a 90° angle).

g.The intersection of s and t forms right angle.

TRUE: right angle = 90°.

h.If the slope of s is 6, the slope of t is -6

FALSE. – 6 is not the opposite reciprocal of 6. The opposite reciprocal of 6 is – 1/6.

So, the right choices are a, c and g.

Giving an address, such as “1000 Elysian Park Avenue, Los Angeles, CA,” is an example of describing the __________ of a place. A. human-environment interaction B. environmental impact C. relative location D. absolute location Please select the best answer from the choices provided. A B C D

Natural Forces Affecting the Driver:

1. While the car stops, the person continues moving the way that the car were moving and then hits the obstacle in the car or the person can be thrown out of the vehicle. If the person wears belt, he will stop moving with the vehicle and won’t hit the obstacle.

2. We count approximate kinetic energy using the formula K = v^2. So the vehicle which is moving at 30 mph will have four times less kinetic energy than vehicle which is moving at 60 mph. If they have the same road conditions, the breaking distance will be four times as great for the car moving twice as fast.

3. Kinetic energy depends on object’s mass and velocity and it has direct relationship with the stopping distance. The lesser mass of the vehicle = the lesser kinetic energy and lesser stopping distance. => If both vehicles have the same velocity, then small vehicle has lesser kinetic energy than large vehicle.

4. We know that kinetic energy has this relationship with velocity K = v^2. So the best way to prepare to enter sharp curves in the roadway is to lower the speed. The most appropriate speed is 20-30 mph, but it depends on road conditions and car’s breaks condition.

5. Car crashes can happen with everyone so the best way is to be prepared. First the driver should wear a seatbelt while he’s driving. He should check his tires and breaks condition regularly. And also it’s important to slow down the vehicle while entering sharp curves. Without following these rules, the driver can get catastrophic injuries in a car crash.

Signs, Signals, and Pavement Markings:

1. It doesn’t matter where you go. All you need is to learn highway code. It’s very different to know the meanings of every road sign. Also, it’s necessary to check your car’s conditions and you should take some spare parts for your car in case of accidents. So wherever you go, it’s important to be prepared.

2. You should stop before crossing and take few minutes to make sure there is no train approaching. If there is no train approaching, you can pass a railroad crossing. If you see approaching train, you should wait until it will pass a railroad crossing.

3. You should stop before the lights and wait to check the traffic movement and signs. Make sure that everything is safe and pass the intersection. Don’t move fast to avoid accidents.

4. Flashing yellow light means that it’s not necessary to stop but you should to pay attention on the traffic movement. So it would be better to yield before the lights and make sure if it’s safe to move. After that you can cross the intersection.

5. The line change means that the lane changes and you can’t cross solid lines. Pay more attention on road marking because it shows how you should behave on the road or highway.

6. As you approach the next exit and  your passengers need to use the restroom and get some food, you should look for green signs which indicate food and rest stops. You should to slow down if you don’t want to skip the sign.

7. When you take the exit ramp off the expressway and merge onto the next road, you see yellow lines dividing the roadway which indicates that there is oncoming traffic and this is a two-way highway.

What is the vertex of the absolute value function defined by f(x)=|x-2|-7? (2,7) (-2,-7) (-2,7) (2,-7)

Answer: The answer is (C) Patricia is not correct because both 3 – 4i  and -11+√2i  must be roots.

Step-by-step explanation:  Given that  (-11-√2i) , (3 + 4i), and 10 are the roots of the polynomial function f(x) that Patricia is studying.

We know that the complex roots of a polynomial function always occur in pairs. That is, if (a + bi) is a root of a function, then (a – bi) will also be a root (one is the complex conjugate of the other).

The complex conjugate of (3 + 4i) is (3 – 4i) and the complex conjugate of (-11 – √2i) is (11 + √2i).

Therefore,  (3 – 4i) and (-11 + √2i) both are the roots of f(x).

Hence, since we have 5 roots, so the degree of the polynomial function f(x) cannot be 4.

Since Patricia concludes that the degree of f(x) is 4, so she is not correct because both (3 – 4i)  and (-11+√2i)  must be roots.

Thus, option (C) is correct.

How can you use the mean absolute deviation of two data sets to compare them?

The scatter graph of the data is shown in the first picture below

The ‘line of best fit’ shows a negative gradient

Part A: The most likely coefficient is -0.98.
If the coefficient is -1, then each point would be exactly on the straight line (which they are not as shown on the graph). The graph however still shows a strong negative coefficient. It can be seen from the close distance of each point from the line of best fit. So -0.5 and -0.02 is unlikely as they show weak negative correlation

Part B: Refer to the second picture to see the horizontal and vertical distance between day 15 and day 20

The horizontal distance is 5 units
The vertical distance is read between 61 and 71.5, hence it’s 10.5
The slope = Vertical distance ÷ Horizontal Distance = 10.5÷5 = 2.1
The ‘downhill’ slope shows a negative gradient, hence the value of the slope is -2.1
The value of the slope shows that the surface area of the lake shrinks by 2.1 for every one day

Part C: The data in the table represents the relation between two variables. Since one variable doesn’t cause the change in the other variable, the data table represents correlation rather than a causation.

Answer: The correct answer is solar cell.

Explanation:

When energy is changed from one form to another, some of the energy is lost to the surroundings as waste thermal energy.

From the given options,

Electric drill: Electric drill converts the electrical energy into mechanical energy. When the drill break the the object then the mechanical energy is converted into the heat energy.

Car engine: Car engine converts the chemical energy into the thermal energy. This thermal energy gets converted into the mechanical energy. Then, this mechanical energy is used to accelerate the vehicle.

Hydroelectric dam: Here, the potential energy stored in the water at some height is converted into mechanical energy. Then, this mechanical energy is converted into the kinetic energy. Then, finally, this kinetic energy is converted into electrical energy.

In above options, there is a dissipation of energy while one form of energy gets converted into another.

The more steps needed to arrive at the desired energy or the more types of energy that are generated, the more energy is wasted.

Solar cell: The solar cell converts the solar energy into electrical energy.

Therefore, a solar cell have the least amount of wasted energy.

What is the absolute value of negative two and five-tenths?

Answer:

The correct is 1. There is more variation in the science scores.

Step-by-step explanation:

Tyrell recorded his science scores and his math scores. The measures of center and variation for each score are shown in the table below.

Measures of Center and Variation for Tyrell’s       Science      Math

                         Mean                                                    78            80

                         Median                                                 80            80

                         Mode                                                    60            85

                         Range                                                   40            15

          Mean Absolute Deviation                                 14.4           4.0

The larger mean absolute deviation represent the greater variation.

Since the mean absolute deviation of science score is more than the math score, therefore There is more variation in the science scores.

Hence the correct option is 1.

Mean is the best measure of the typical score of both science and math because it includes all the values.

Therefore option 3 is incorrect.

Mean of science is 78 and median of science is 80.

Since 78≠80, therefore mean and median are not same.

Therefore option 4 is incorrect.

If a gas has an absolute pressure of 319 kPa, its gage pressure is A. 439 kPa. B. 199 kPa. C. 219 kPa. D. 419 kPa

Answer:

The pressure increases with the weight of the water above.

Explanation:

Bathypelagic zone is present above the abyssopelagic zone. The bathypelagic zone extends from 1000 to 4000 m deep in oceans while the abyssopelagic zone extends from 4000 to 6000 m deep in oceans.

Since the abyssopelagic zone is located deeper than the bathypelagic zone, the weight of water present above it is greater than in the bathypelagic zone.

The more water present above the abyssopelagic zone exerts more pressure on the abyssopelagic zone. This is why water pressure is greater in the abyssopelagic zone.
