The Reformation actually started after Columbus’s landing in North America.

Treaty of Tordesillas in 1494 was forced on Spain and Portugal by the Pope. The Pope basically said that all lands in the New World belonged to Spain and all new non-Christian lands in the Eastern Hemisphere belong to Portugal. No other Catholic countries can do anything in those areas without the approval of the owner.

The pope basically drew two lines on the globe setting the border. The western line started at the north pole cut half way through Greenland and ended at the south pole. The new world was everything to the west. Problem is that it ran through a chunk of Brazil which is why Brazil is an ex-Portuguese colony.

The Eastern line starts at the North Pole runs through siberia, through the pacific just west of Japan, and cuts Australia in half. Of course, Australia hadn’t been discovered yet. Everything to the the east of this line is the new world.

Obviously, this treaty didn’t hold up well, but the reformation gave the protestant countries an excuse to explore the new world since they didn’t have to take orders from the Pope. Even so, France, a catholic country, ignored it too.

Really, the only country that was effected by the reformation in the exploration of the Americas was England. All the other countries, changed their religion once and then went to war with the nearest catholic country. Sweden became Lutheran and stayed that way. The Dutch Republic became Calvinists and stayed that way.

England kept switching. First it was Catholic. Then, Henry VIII made it protestant. Then, Henry’s daughter Mary I made it catholic again. Henry’s other daughter Elizabeth I (with the two hit movies) made it Protestant again.

Years latter, Oliver Cromwell over through the monarchy, executed the King Charles I, and established a Protestant fundamentalist religious military dictatorship. He outlawed drinking, smoking, gambling, theater, dirty books, sports, prostitution, and anything generally fun. He would have made Saudi Arabia proud. Basically, all you could do is work, pray, and die. Sex was allowed for creating children, but you couldn’t enjoy it.

When Cromwell died, the people of England said enough was enough and brought back the King. Charles II kicked out the fundamentalists and brought back drinking, smoking, gambling, dirty books, sports, prostitution, and having fun during sex. Incidentally, those were also all his hobbies.

This brings us to the famous Pilgrims. They were part of Cromwell’s crowd. They kept agitating a return to the no-fun policy. They annoyed everybody. They weren’t persecuted for practicing their religion, they were persecuted because they kept trying to force their religion on everyone else. Sort of like Southern Baptists.

Charles II was the most easy going monarch in British history. Do realize how annoying you have to be to get him to throw you out.

Charles’s brother James II was obsessed with turning Great Britain catholic again. After four years of trying, they kicked him and his followers out.

HELP ME PLEASE !!! Which is the best example of a strong conclusion in a presentation? Studies have shown that bottled water is not any safer than tap water in most communities. The FDA requires technicians to test all tap water before it is distributed. Another argument against bottled water is the waste that is produced in making and disposing of the plastic bottles. Distributing cases of water creates pollution and traffic. Drinking tap water instead of bottled water is a simple thing. It is inexpensive, saves the environment, and tastes great. Why buy bottles? Fill your glass at the tap and enjoy! Do you think you can taste the difference between expensive bottled water and the water that comes from your tap? We took a poll of students here in our school. Here are the results.

Why did pioneer families tend to settle in communities along major rivers

[ad_1]

1- The American author who was most directly inspired by the ideals of Transcendentalism was Henry David Thoreau.

Thoreau was a philosopher of nature and its relation to the human condition. In his early years he followed Transcendentalism, a loose and eclectic idealist philosophy that argued that an ideal spiritual state transcends, or goes beyond the physical and the empirical, and that intuition is achieved through personal intuition rather than religious doctrine. In its opinion, nature is the outward sign of the inner spirit, expressing the “radical correspondence of visible things and human thoughts.”

2- Transcendentalism central value was the human connection with nature.

For the transcendentalists, the soul of each individual is identical to the soul of the world and contains what the world contains.Transcendentalists worked with the feeling that the advent of a new era was within reach. They were critical of their contemporary society for their unreflective conformity, and urged each individual to seek “an original relationship with the universe.”

3- During the mid-19th century, Transcendentalist writers had a strong influence over the formation of  utopian communities.

4- The Transcendentalist writing that most directly influenced African American activists in the 1950s and 1960s was “Two Rivers”.

5- Transcendentalism was centered on writers and thinkers from New England.

The vast majority of transcendentalist writers and thinkers came from the State of Massachusetts, and had been educated at Harvard University.

Discuss the extent to which religious organizations have supported affected communities.

[ad_1]

Aside from government organizations, religious organizations of various denominations, particularly Christian and Catholic organizations, have played a central role in aiding communities that have been affected by political and military conflict, terrorism, natural disasters, and many others. The reason for it, aside from the usual attempt at evangelization, is that the very core of the Christian faith is to support those who are most vulnerable in society.

For example, it is enough to look at regions of the world that have been devastated by war and famine, to be able to see this issue. When you look at Africa, there is no clearer picture of how religious organizations have supported these communities through diverse activities, like feeding them, teaching them, or providing healthcare services for free. Countries in the Middle East, one of the most violent regions in the world, right now, also receive enormous percentages of aid from religious organizations, through money, but most of all, through human resources; people who go to the devastated countries to provide healthcare services and others.

The most important issue here is that, unlike governmental agencies, and international agencies, religious organizations have affected vulnerable communities not just for a short period of time – just during the peak of the problem- as has been cases like Haiti, after the earthquakes, or Venezuela in their internal conflict, but they work long-term and their effect are also long-term.

Why did the chicano movement focus on the rights of farm workers

With the coming of the Mexican Revolution in 1910, many Mexicans fled north to the United States in order to escape the bloodshed in search of new lives. As the influx of migration continued, the American demand for agricultural laborers was so high that a work-visa program for Mexicans was established in 1920. While the Bracero Program offered Mexican farm workers a legally binding work contract, the majority suffered gross abuses of their labor rights and racial discrimination.
Farm workers were often unpaid and were denied the right to unionize, a right that all other American workers enjoyed. They labored in inhumane conditions, as growers ignored state laws on working conditions. The workers had no toilets to use in the fields, and were forced to pay two dollars or more per day to live in metal shacks with no plumbing or electricity. On top of that, grape pickers were paid an average of 90 cents per hour, plus ten cents per basket picked, placing their families well below the poverty line.

Answer: D) harmless plant proteins

Pollen is a male gamete, which is produced by the flowers in order to conduct fertilization of female gamete or ovule. The pollen contains proteins which acts as an antigen. When these proteins or antigens are inhaled by the living organisms like humans it creates an allergic response in them. This occurs due to the fact that, when body receives a foreign antigen, the body immune system gets activated and it produces antibodies against it, to expel it out of the body by sneezing.

According to the above information, the culprit is affected by harmless plant proteins, which will originate an allergic response, causing Juan to sneeze when he sniffs the morning glory flower.

Tying Knots With Communities Reflection Paper

Youth Involvement In Scouting And Civic Engagement In Adulthood

Overall personal experience while going through this is really good and positive. I came to know that the highest rank is given to Eagle Scouts in the BSA (Boy Scouts of America). The mediator choice in the research is really impressive i.e. PYD (Positive Youth Development) framework that, I believe, should be carried out in the future as well, because the importance of 5Cs is highlighted by it i.e. Competence, Confidence, Character, Connection, and Caring. The point is to be noted that PYD’s five Cs model is useful and the research has used it effectively while framing the study.

Tying Knots With Communities Reflection Paper

After going through the research, I learnt and came to know about the background of PYD that when and how it was started and by whom. I learnt the importance of five positive characteristics in the scouting that, I believe, should be carried out in the future. On the other hand, the research has briefly explained the nexus between civil engineering and five positive characteristics. The sample size seemed to be very effective that tells the reader about the originality and hard work of the research. Overall the research is really good, but I just want to suggest one thing that the research would have been simplest to be understood by the common man as it has some difficult terms used in the research. Moreover, the research should have included the limitations for future research.
