Read the excerpt from Chapter 5 of Wheels of Change. These traits led commentators to worry that the differences between the sexes were being blurred, a fear that was reinforced as the four newest states—Wyoming, Colorado, Utah, and Idaho—granted women the right to vote in the 1890s. Would the bicycle help bring about a new kind of equality between men and women? Elizabeth Cady Stanton and her colleagues certainly hoped so. At any rate, the image of a female cyclist quickly became associated with efforts to win more rights for women. What conclusion does Macy draw in this synthesis of ideas? Women were granted the right to vote in four states as a direct result of the bicycle’s invention. Female cyclists were quickly becoming associated with efforts to win more rights for women. Stanton and her colleagues hoped women cyclists would join their fight for women’s rights. Wyoming, Colorado, Utah, and Idaho were home to the highest percentage of women cyclists.

[ad_1]

Female cyclists were quickly becoming associated with efforts to win more rights for women.

At the end of the passage, usually where a conclusion is stated, it says that the image of a female cyclist was becoming a symbol for women’s rights. The passage does not tell the reader anything about the percentage of women cyclists. While it does tell the reader about women being granted the right to voted, the connection between that and the bicycle is that it blurs the differences between the sexes. Both men and women were riding bicycles and they were both voting. There is also nothing in the passage about women cyclists as a group joining or not joining the women’s rights movement.

The correct answer is A) the effects of unchecked immigration.

The political that this cartoon illustrates is the effects of unchecked immigration.

The cartoon describes a situation of immigrants. So, it illustrates the effects of unchecked immigration with so many people entering the United States with no order at all. The situation shows the risk of a lack of immigration policy could have on the country and the possible consequnences of such a few restrictions to enter the U.S.

The sign that says “Baggage the only Requisite”, showed how easy was for people to enter the United States. And the pice of paper on the floor, besides Uncle Sam, with the names of “Mafia in New Orleans”, “Anarchist in Chicago”, and “Socialist in New York”, is an example of the strong journalism critic of that time.

Poland Hungary Bulgaria

In the aftermath of World War II, the influence of the Soviet Union extended through the countries that were invaded by fascists in the Eastern Front, such as Poland, Hungary, and Bulgaria.

Poland

In January 1947, elections were held, resulting in the communist Republic of Poland. Previously elections were intervened so the communist candidates could turn victorious, and the members of communist resistance continued to resist in the territories near to Ucrain but fierce soviets intervention turned to mass arrest where all kinds of executions, deportations, and imprisonment took place.

Hungary

In Hungary, the Soviets imposed harsh conditions that seized key raw materials and interfered in the internal affairs and social, policymaking. The Red army set some vigilance with police to persecute political opponents and enemies of the state.

Bulgaria

In September 1944, The Soviets declared war on Bulgary, under the argument that this country allowed its territory where the Wehrmacht (Germany) crossed and continued to press the frontlines eastwards. The Red Army motivated a coup d Etat where communists also set favorable conditions for the creation of a communist regime.

-This countries became to form the Eastern bloc, a period that lasted several decades until the 1989 Revolutions set an important amount of political and social changes in Europe in East and Central Europe, causing most of the socialist states, formerly puppet states to Soviet Russia to collapse and engage in democratic process and incorporate a different economic model.

The map shows key allied states in this Eastern bloc

The question below refers to the selection “Games at Twilight.” Explain the irony at the conclusion of the story.

[ad_1]

Answer:

Henri Rousseau’s Portrait of a Woman

Explanation:

Magical Realism finds precedent in eighteenth-century Gothic novels, but also connects with sixteenth-century Baroque or Surrealism, almost contemporary in the early twentieth century.

Among the most striking features of this movement, we find the blend of realism with pure unreality that is observed as normal, with the integration of magical elements without seeming extraordinary.

These works do not explain the supernatural elements and are narrated as something natural, with characters unaware of their transcendent dimension. In addition, death has paramount value in the relativistic discourse of truth, with a metaphysical focus on space and time and an intimate atmosphere that blends characters with myths, legends, and natural cultures.

Henri Rousseau’s Portrait of a Woman is considered one of the first magical realistic stories.

What conclusion did rutherford draw from this experiment?

[ad_1]

25) Answer is: less metallic and more nonmetallic.

Electronegativity increases from left to right across a period, atoms have tendency to attract electrons.

Electronegativity (χ) is a property that describes the tendency of an atom to attract a shared pair of electrons.

26) Answer is: radioisotope.

Radioisotope has an unstable atomic nucleus and emit energy and particles when it changes to a more stable form.

Francium (Fr) is element with atomic number 87 (87 protons and 87 electrons).

27) Answer is: boils.

Boiling is the temperature at which the vapour pressure of the liquid is equal to the pressure exerted on the liquid by the surrounding atmosphere.

The Celsius scale was based on 0°C for the freezing point of water and 100°C for the boiling point of water at 1 atm pressure.

28) Answer is: endothermic.

There are two types of reaction:

1) endothermic reaction (chemical reaction that absorbs more energy than it releases, ΔH>0).

2) exothermic reaction (chemical reaction that releases more energy than it absorbs).

For example, the breakdown of ozone is an endothermic process. Ozone has lower energy than molecular oxygen (O₂) and oxygen atom, so ozone need energy to break bond between oxygen atoms.

29) Answer is: kinetic.

The average kinetic energy of molecules depends on the temperature.

As temperature increases, molecules gain more energy from surrounding and move faster.

Kinetic energy (standard unit is the joule J) depends on speed of the molecule.

Solid gains kinetic energy to become a liquid and then becomes a gas.

30) Answer is: alpha particles.

This was famous Rutherford’s Gold Foil Experiment: he bombarded thin foil of gold with positive alpha particles.

Rutherford observed the deflection of alpha particles on the photographic film.

Alpha particles are helium atom particles, consist of two protons and two neutrons.

According to Rutherford model of the atom: atoms have their charge concentrated in a very small nucleus.

31) Answer is: highest.

For example, calcium oxide.

Calcium oxide (CaO) has ionic bonds between calcium cations (Ca²⁺) and oxygen anions (O²⁻).

Because it has strong ionic bonds, it has high melting point (around 2600°C).

Ionic bond is the electrostatic attraction between oppositely charged ions (cations and anions).

32) Answer is: a scientific model.

A scientific model is a representation of an idea, an object, a process or a system that is used to describe and explain phenomena that cannot be experienced directly.

33) Answer is: the superscript is mass number and the subscript is atomic number.

Atomic number(Z) is the number of protons, which is characteristic of a chemical element..

Mass number (A) is the total number of protons and neutrons in a nucleus.

The Reformation actually started after Columbus’s landing in North America.

Treaty of Tordesillas in 1494 was forced on Spain and Portugal by the Pope. The Pope basically said that all lands in the New World belonged to Spain and all new non-Christian lands in the Eastern Hemisphere belong to Portugal. No other Catholic countries can do anything in those areas without the approval of the owner.

The pope basically drew two lines on the globe setting the border. The western line started at the north pole cut half way through Greenland and ended at the south pole. The new world was everything to the west. Problem is that it ran through a chunk of Brazil which is why Brazil is an ex-Portuguese colony.

The Eastern line starts at the North Pole runs through siberia, through the pacific just west of Japan, and cuts Australia in half. Of course, Australia hadn’t been discovered yet. Everything to the the east of this line is the new world.

Obviously, this treaty didn’t hold up well, but the reformation gave the protestant countries an excuse to explore the new world since they didn’t have to take orders from the Pope. Even so, France, a catholic country, ignored it too.

Really, the only country that was effected by the reformation in the exploration of the Americas was England. All the other countries, changed their religion once and then went to war with the nearest catholic country. Sweden became Lutheran and stayed that way. The Dutch Republic became Calvinists and stayed that way.

England kept switching. First it was Catholic. Then, Henry VIII made it protestant. Then, Henry’s daughter Mary I made it catholic again. Henry’s other daughter Elizabeth I (with the two hit movies) made it Protestant again.

Years latter, Oliver Cromwell over through the monarchy, executed the King Charles I, and established a Protestant fundamentalist religious military dictatorship. He outlawed drinking,smoking, gambling, theater, dirty books, sports, prostitution, and anything generally fun. He would have made Saudi Arabia proud. Basically, all you could do is work, pray, and die. Sex was allowed for creating children, but you couldn’t enjoy it.

When Cromwell died, the people of England said enough was enough and brought back the King. Charles II kicked out the fundamentalists and brought back drinking, smoking, gambling, dirty books, sports, prostitution, and having fun during sex. Incidentally, those were also all his hobbies.

This brings us to the famous Pilgrims. They were part of Cromwell’s crowd. They kept agitating a return to the no-fun policy. They annoyed everybody. They weren’t persecuted for practicing their religion, they were persecuted because they kept trying to force their religion on everyone else. Sort of like Southern Baptists.

Charles II was the most easy going monarch in British history. Do realize how annoying you have to be to get him to throw you out.

Charles’s brother James II was obsessed with turning Great Britain catholic again. After four years of trying, they kicked him and his followers out.

There are primarily three subatomic particles in an atom;
Protons
Electrons
Neutrons
—————-
Protons are positively charged subatomic particles in an atom. These particles give an element it’s identity, based on it’s ‘Atomic Number’, or how many protons are contained in the atom.

Electrons are negatively charged subatomic particles in an atom. These particles give an element it’s reactivity, and are a major part in finding where an element lies on the Periodic Table by valence electrons. We can discuss more of this in PM if you’d like to know more about this. Electrons are also a major part of finding an element’s ‘atomic mass’, or how many neutrons it has.

Neutrons are subatomic particles in an atom that have a neutral or ‘no’ charge. These are inside of the nucleus of an atom, as opposed to protons and electrons, which are farther outward of the center of an atom.

To answer your question, and reading from the text above, ‘Neutrons’ is your answer.

I hope this helps!

Answer: The answer is (C) Patricia is not correct because both 3 – 4i  and -11+√2i  must be roots.

Step-by-step explanation:  Given that  (-11-√2i) , (3 + 4i), and 10 are the roots of the polynomial function f(x) that Patricia is studying.

We know that the complex roots of a polynomial function always occur in pairs. That is, if (a + bi) is a root of a function, then (a – bi) will also be a root (one is the complex conjugate of the other).

The complex conjugate of (3 + 4i) is (3 – 4i) and the complex conjugate of (-11 – √2i) is (11 + √2i).

Therefore,  (3 – 4i) and (-11 + √2i) both are the roots of f(x).

Hence, since we have 5 roots, so the degree of the polynomial function f(x) cannot be 4.

Since Patricia concludes that the degree of f(x) is 4, so she is not correct because both (3 – 4i)  and (-11+√2i)  must be roots.

Thus, option (C) is correct.

The FDA requires technicians to test all tap water before it is distributed. Another argument against bottled water is the waste that is produced in making and disposing of the plastic bottles. Distributing cases of water creates pollution and traffic. Drinking tap water instead of bottled water is a simple thing. It is inexpensive, saves the environment, and tastes great. Why buy bottles? Fill your glass at the tap and enjoy! Do you think you can taste the difference between expensive bottled water and the water that comes from your tap? We took a poll of students here in our school. B is correct

Step-by-step explanation:

If three-digit numbers greater than 200 can be formed from the digits 1, 2, 6, 7, and 9

Here we have total number of digits are 5

We need to make 3-digit number which is greater than 200

First digit must be 2 or greater than 2

From list of number 1,2,6,7,9

Four numbers are greater than equal to 2

For 1st place total number of possibility = 4

For 2nd place number of possibility = 5

For 3rd place number of possibility = 5

Total numbers of which are greater than 200 = 4 x 5 x 5

                                                                            = 100

Hence, 100 three-digit number greater than 200

boxed{  1,3 times 10^{22}  carbon  atoms  }

Further explanation

Diamond is 100% pure elemental carbon, compressed to its crystal form, under extreme heat and pressure deep within the Earth. The symbol for carbon is C.

Step-1: convert carat to grams

The carat represent the unit of weight for diamonds and other gemstones. From several sources, it is known that 1-carat = 0.2 grams of carbon atoms.

Converting 1.3-carat to several grams of carbon atoms

boxed{  1.3-carat times frac{0.2  grams}{1  carat} = 0.26  grams  }

So 1.3-carat diamonds are equal to 0.26 grams of carbon atoms.

Step-2: convert grams to moles

From the periodic table of elements, we know that the atomic mass of carbon is 12 g/mol. The relationship between mole, gram, and atomic mass is

boxed{  moles = frac{grams}{atomic  mass}}

Converting 0.26 grams to moles

boxed{  moles = frac{0.26  grams}{12  g/mol}}

We obtain 0.0217 moles of carbon atoms.

Final step: convert mole to atoms

The relationship between mole, the number of atoms (N), and Avogadro’s number is

boxed{ moles = frac{N}{6.022 times 10^{23}} rightarrow N = moles times 6.022 times 10^{23}  }

N = 0.0217 times 6.022 times 10^{23}

Rounding to 2 decimal places to produce 0.13 times 10^{23} and in the form of scientific notation is boxed{ 1.3 times 10^{22}  carbon  atoms}

So there is boxed{ 1.3 times 10^{22} carbon atoms} are there in a 1.3-carat diamond.

Quick way

boxed{ frac{N}{6.022 times 10^{23}} = frac{grams}{atomic  mass}  }

Rearrange it

boxed{ N = 6.022 times 10^{23} times frac{grams}{atomic  mass}  }

N = 6.022 times 10^{23} times frac{1.3 times 0.2}{12}  }

boxed{ N = 1.3 times 10^{22}  carbon  atoms}

Conclusion: the last part what is the root word of conclusion

[ad_1]

Answer:

B. In formal English, we use words to say precisely what we mean.

Explanation:

Depending on the situation, we may use formal or informal language. In situations revolving around a serious matter or involving people we are not familiar with, we will use formal language. When we are more relaxed and conversing with people we know on a more personal level, we will use informal language.

Formal language is more used in writing, while informal language is more used in speaking. Contractions and abbreviations are characteristics of informal language and should not be used in formal documents. As a resume is a formal document, the language it’s written in should be formal. When using formal language, we usually want to get to the point as soon as possible and use words to precisely say what we mean.

Answer:

The correct option will be DNA is contained in chromosomes, and chromosomes are contained in the cell nucleus.

Explanation:

DNA is the genetic material of the eukaryotic organisms which is organised into highly specialized structures to fit in the nucleus of every cell.

DNA forms association with proteins to form compact structure as:

1. 11 nm nucleosomes- formed by wrapping of DNA around histone proteins   forming nucleosomes which appears as beads on a string structure.

2. 30 nm fiber– formed by folding of nucleosomes which form compact structure.

3. 300 nm looped structure– solenoid structure formed by folding of 30 nm fiber.

4. 700 nm chromosome structureformed by folding of 300 nm structure forming compact structure called chromosome.

So, the continuous thread-like molecule of DNA forms a compact structure called chromosome by forming association with proteins which fits into the microscopic space of the eukaryotic nucleus.

Thus, DNA is contained in chromosomes, and chromosomes are contained in the cell nucleus is the correct answer.
