What price do farmers get for the peach crops? in the third week of June, a random sample of 40 farming regions gave a sample mean of $6.88 per basket. assume that the standard deviation is known to be $1.92 per basket. find a 90% confidence interval for the population mean price per basket that farmers in this region get for their peach crop

[ad_1]

Given:
Sample size, n = 40
Sample mean, xb = $6.88
Population std. deviation, σ = $1.92 (known)
Confidence interval = 90%

Assume normal distribution for the population.
The confidence interval is
(xb + 1.645*(σ/√n), xb – 1.645*(σ/√n)
= (6.88 + (1.645*1.92)/√40, 6.88 – (1.645*1.92)/√40)
= (7.38, 6.38)

Answer: The 90% confidence interval is (7.38, 6.38)

WILL GIVE BRAINIEST ANSWER ASAP 1. Africa’s population is growing very quickly. 2. Much of the best land in Africa is being used to grow cash crops, such as coffee, for export to other countries. 3. Droughts are common in Africa. Which of the following problems are the governments of Africa most likely to be concerned about as a result of the conditions above? A. increased risk of famine B. lower poverty rates C. higher education attendance D. lower rates of disease

[ad_1]

Answer:

The answer is C. In order to carefully control conditions and confirm or disconfirm a hypothesis about the causes of behavior, one must perform an experiment.

Explanation:

Experimental research allows the researcher to control all the variables in order to create the conditions that can confirm or disconfirm a hypothesis. This method aimes to establish a relation of causality between two variables, which means that one variable is generated and determined by the other; this is posible because all of the other variables that can influence it have been controlled.

When a researcher conducts a survey or engages in naturalistic observation, he can’t control the variables, therefore, he can only establish a correlation between two variables, but not of causality.

1- The correct answer is B, as one result of the Great Society was that the lives of many underprivileged Americans improved.

The Great Society was a set of US national reform programs announced by President Lyndon B. Johnson for the first time in a speech at Ohio University on May 7, 1964 and more fully illustrated on May 22, 1964 at the University of Michigan. These reform programs were subsequently presented to the Congress of the United States and largely approved during the 1960s, thanks to the consent of its supporters of the Democratic Party.

Two main goals of social reforms were the elimination of poverty and racial injustice. During this period new large spending programs were launched in the fields of education, medical care, urban problems and transport. Johnson’s “Great Society” was linked, in its objectives and policies, to President Franklin Delano Roosevelt’s New Deal program.

Some proposals of the Great Society resumed initiatives contained in the New Frontier program, interrupted by the tragic death of President John F. Kennedy. Johnson’s success in promoting and endorsing his reforms depended on his considerable congressional political influence, his persuasion, and the favorable historical circumstances resulting from the 1964 presidential elections, which allowed the Democratic Party to dominate Congress and to elect the House of Representatives with the largest number of exponents of the liberal current since 1938.

The evolution of the Vietnam war and the massive involvement of the American military machine in the conflict, however, partly undermined the success of the “Great Society” program. Growing, huge expenditures for the continuation of the war made more difficult to finance the reform programs. Representatives of the Democratic Party against the war in Vietnam complained that military spending decisively stifled the Great Society program. On the whole, however, despite growing political and economic difficulties, which forced the administration to eliminate or reduce the financing of some projects, President Johnson managed to activate a series of programs of great importance, including Medicare, Medicaid, the Older Americans Act and the federal education funding, which are still active.

2- The correct answer is C, as the Immigration and Nationality Act of 1965 was necessary because the previous existing American immigration policies were discriminatory.

On October 3, 1965, President Lyndon B. Johnson signed the law into effect, saying: “The [old] system violates the basic principle of American democracy, the principle according to which the valuation and reward of each man should be established on the basis of his merits as a man. It has been anti-American in the highest sense, because it has been unfaithful to the faith that led thousands to these shores, even before we were a country. ”

Well I live in Florida so; I can explain tourism has always had a large role in our history. During our development, tourism gave us the much needed boost in economy that we needed to get on our feet. People coming from all over to enjoy the oranges and warm sun and beaches was a large source of income for people all over. More people to boy products = a larger income. The ‘boom and bust’ is what im guessing was the time right before the stock market crashed. Americans were richer then ever, they took more vacations, they generally thought of themselves having a brighter economic future, which caused more spending, more vacations, more extravagance. This made Florida truly flourish for a time, becoming a hotspot for wealthy vacation homes. The Great Depression almost killed us.. many buisness owners had come to depend on tourism to make a living wage, but since the great depression loomed over everyone, no one took vacations. No one had extra money to spend. Many of those wealthy vacation homes went into foreclosure. The Floridian Economy tanked during this time, so bad we even feel ripple effects of it today, even though we have built up so much more.

The correct answer is – alms.

The alms is the pillar that is referring to giving to the poor and needy. It is practiced by lots of Muslims, and it is considered as an act of solidarity towards the followers of the faith that are in dire need of it. This includes giving money, food, and clothing, though occasionally it may even include shelter. It can be performed in person when some people go to the people that they want to give something as aid, to invite some person in need or that is poor at their homes, or it goes as donations in the mosques which afterwards take the responsibility to deliver them to the poor and in need.

In tropical rain forest, the animals will have to deal with higher temperatures and greater rainfall. One example of an adaptation they might need is a thin, water-proof coat. This will prevent heat from becoming trapped inside their fur/hair/feathers, and the water-absorbing coating will allow water to stick to the inside of the coat without being absorbed, where the water will absorb the heat instead of themselves, and will cool the through evaporative cooling (heat release through evaporation)

In a deciduous forest, there is much colder temperatures, and significantly less rainfall. These animals would likely want a thicker water-proof coat. This is because the thicker coat would allow heat to become trapped, keeping them warm in the winter, and the water-proof coating prevents water from freezing in their fur, making them colder.

Answer:Leo Tolstoy wrote the novella The Death of Ivan Ilyich to criticize the emerging middle class of modern Russia in the nineteenth century. Ivan Ilyich, his family, and his friends are part of this budding middle class. Tolstoy’s aim in writing this novella was to criticize the thoughts and the approach of middle class people toward their families, their jobs, and society. He used the life of Ivan Ilyich to demonstrate all the aspects of the middle class that he believed were wrong. Tolstoy portrays Ivan Ilyich as a man whose life decisions are based on social acceptance. He chooses his friends and even his wife based on their social standing. When he starts to find his family life unpleasant because of his wife’s constant nagging, he limits his interactions with the whole family. Instead, he seeks comfort in his work. He assumes a formal relationship with his family members, particularly his wife. This change in his feelings and attitude toward his family does not seem strange to him. On the contrary, getting away from his family becomes his life goal:

This aloofness might have grieved Ivan Ilyich had he considered that it ought not to exist, but he now regarded the position as normal, and even made it the goal at which he aimed in family life.

Tolstoy deplored the middle-class habit of maintaining distance with family members in private but keeping up appearances of closeness for the public. Tolstoy shows his character Ivan Ilyich making the effort to maintain this detachment from his family members while ensuring that his family appears on the outside to be a regular and happy family. Even when he has to be at home with his family, he makes sure that they have guests. That way, he can avoid confrontations or meaningful discussions with his family:

His aim was to free himself more and more from those unpleasantnesses and to give them a semblance of harmlessness and propriety. He attained this by spending less and less time with his family, and when obliged to be at home he tried to safeguard his position by the presence of outsiders.

Ilyich’s work soon becomes an obsession, and everything else, including his family is secondary to his job:

The chief thing however was that he had his official duties. The whole interest of his life now centered in the official world and that interest absorbed him.

Through Ivan Ilyich, Tolstoy portrayed a class of people who make determined efforts to escape human contact and suffering by seemingly living in denial. They are people who run away from love and relationships, and they are unwilling to reflect on their lives. Instead, they choose to exist in their self-centered world until they are jolted into reality. In Ivan Ilyich’s case, this jolt comes in the form of his illness in chapter 4.

Tolstoy would not have agreed with Ivan Ilyich’s priorities. Unlike Ivan, Tolstoy looked inward throughout his adult life. He searched for a deeper meaning and purpose, especially in regard to his political and religious ideals. While those ideals eventually caused Tolstoy to avoid his wife, he generally had a close relationship with his family. By all accounts, he seemed very much a man who loved and cherished his wife and their 10 children. While Tolstoy was dedicated to his writing, his family seemed to inspire him, rather than get in the way of his literary genius. His wife was involved in his work, having transcribed most of his writing. Even Tolstoy’s last days were spent on a pilgrimage that he embarked on with his youngest daughter.

In Common Sense, Paine suggested that American independence from Great Britain was inevitable.

Further Explanation:

Common Sense was a famous pamphlet written by Thomas Paine in 1776. Paine was an English man who was visiting the American colonies and felt that the relationship between Great Britain and the colonists was highly ineffective. In this pamphlet, Paine argued that American would inevitably become free from British rule. The following is a list of some of the arguments made by Paine:

1) The thousands of miles between Great Britain and the American colonies make it extremely difficult for the colonial governments to work properly.

2) The American colonists are continually dragged into British wars with other countries (example= French and Indian War).

3) The American colonists have plenty of resources and trade opportunities with other countries (besides) Britain which would ensure their continued economic success.

These types of arguments convinced many American colonists that becoming completely free from British rule is the best decision possible. The ideas from this book even influenced the writing of the Declaration of Independence.

President Andrew Jackson’s policies affected American Indians as they called for the relocation of American Indians to western lands.

In his first annual message to Congress on December 8, 1829, Jackson argued that the best place for indigenous tribes would be the lands west of the Mississippi River. Congress, in turn, was in the process of creating its own legislation regarding the relocation of indigenous people. There were many congressmen who supported Jackson’s goals. On May 26, 1830 the Congress approved the Indian Removal Act, legislation that Jackson signed. The law gave the President the power to negotiate treaties where lands were purchased in the east in exchange for land to the west, outside the American border. The passage of the bill was Jackson’s first legislative triumph and marked the true entrance of the Democratic Party to American society.

Answer:

One of the many different themes that is dealt with in the short story “The Most Dangerous Game”, by Richard Connell, and which is really interesting, is the reality of human brutality, and cruelty that is disguised by civilization and education.

Explanation:

This can be seen in the story when Mr. Rainsford, the main protagonist, and an acknowledged hunter, meets General Zaroff, and lives as a guest under the man´s roof. This portrayal of the real brutality and cruelty that lies in human hearts, and that is covered through the hypocrisy of outward civilization and education, is the first thing that meets the reader´s eyes when we see how the general surrounds himself, within a jungle, by all that had once been a part of his European and aristocratic lifestyle. He is a gentleman in all manners, even when he is talking about the need to hunt human beings because he has become bored by animal hunting, but in truth, deep within, General Zaroff is just as brutal, and cruel, as the most vicious of all animals, and even worse, because he hides behind the guise of education and manners. This is why I chose this as one of the most interesting psychological themes in the story.

Answer:

Initially, The National Grange was a social and educational movement that fought against the isolation of farmers, but soon began to promote consumer and distribution cooperatives to eliminate intermediaries in the commercialization of agricultural products, although most of these cooperatives failed due to the lack of experience in management, the hostility of the already established cooperatives and the lack of support among the peasants.

At the beginning of the 1870s its affiliation increased because of the agrarian depression that was taking place in the United States, and it was precisely in those years when it participated in politics through the so-called “third parties”, with the main objective of ensuring that the States, especially those in the Midwest, where the organization was most established, will regulate railroad tariffs and grain storage silos.

With the return to prosperity at the end of the 1870s the organization was losing political force and returned to its initial objective: the social and educative improvement of the peasants.

There is a public debate between the three candidates for the U.S. Senate. During the debate, the topics of oil and energy are addressed. Each candidate expressed their view on the issue: Edgar Eisenhower: “We need to cut our dependence on foreign oil. Instead, let’s use the natural world around us. Think about the sun, wind, water, the heat of the earth, and the crops in our fields. These will make for affordable energy in the 21st century. We should fund research in those areas. Let us also increase tax credits for private investment in clean, renewable sources of energy.” Rebecca Roosevelt: “We need to cut our dependence on foreign oil and develop a national energy strategy. We should provide tax incentives for producing energy in the U.S. Let’s increase U.S. supplies of coal, oil, and natural gas. We should promote environmentally responsible exploration and development of oil and gas reserves. That includes federal land like Alaska’s National Wildlife Refuge. Let’s also advance clean coal technology.” Terrance Taft: “Looking at our energy supply is one thing—how we’re using it is another. We can drive smaller, more fuel efficient cars. We can invest in more efficient technology for our homes and businesses. These things add up and make a big difference. In fact, in several new buildings associated with Taft Inc., we address our energy needs with locally produced renewable energy. That wouldn’t be possible if we were using outdated, energy guzzling technology.” Often politicians will agree that something is a priority, but have very different recommendations on how to best address it. What would be the best example of this from the previous section? 1. Both Terrance Taft and Edgar Eisenhower agree that inefficiency is bad, but disagree on how to make things more efficient. 2. Both Rebecca Roosevelt and Edgar Eisenhower agree that we need to reduce our dependence on foreign oil, but disagree on the best way of doing so. 3. Both Terrance Taft and Rebecca Roosevelt agree that alternative energy is important, but disagree about which form would be the best to invest in. 4. Both Rebecca Roosevelt and Terrance Taft agree that developing alternative energy sources is important, but differ on the best way of doing so.

Answer:

The American participation in the Vietnam War was very different from its involvement in the Bay of Pigs Invasion.

In the Vietnam War, the United States carried out direct participation, with first-hand military planning and execution and large-scale attacks. Some 60,000 Americans died in the conflict, of about one million who participated.

In contrast, in the Bay of Pigs Invasion, American participation was indirect. That is, the attack was planned and the troops trained by American forces, but these were made up of Cuban exiles, not American soldiers. In addition, it was a small-scale attack, both because of the low number of men involved and because of its short duration.
