What price do farmers get for the peach crops? in the third week of June, a random sample of 40 farming regions gave a sample mean of \$6.88 per basket. assume that the standard deviation is known to be \$1.92 per basket. find a 90% confidence interval for the population mean price per basket that farmers in this region get for their peach crop

Given:
Sample size, n = 40
Sample mean, xb = \$6.88
Population std. deviation, σ = \$1.92 (known)
Confidence interval = 90%

Assume normal distribution for the population.
The confidence interval is
(xb + 1.645*(σ/√n), xb – 1.645*(σ/√n)
= (6.88 + (1.645*1.92)/√40, 6.88 – (1.645*1.92)/√40)
= (7.38, 6.38)

Answer: The 90% confidence interval is (7.38, 6.38)

The middle classes in colonial America consisted of: indentured servants professional people, artisans, and farmers planters and merchants

The Reformation actually started after Columbus’s landing in North America.

Treaty of Tordesillas in 1494 was forced on Spain and Portugal by the Pope. The Pope basically said that all lands in the New World belonged to Spain and all new non-Christian lands in the Eastern Hemisphere belong to Portugal. No other Catholic countries can do anything in those areas without the approval of the owner.

The pope basically drew two lines on the globe setting the border. The western line started at the north pole cut half way through Greenland and ended at the south pole. The new world was everything to the west. Problem is that it ran through a chunk of Brazil which is why Brazil is an ex-Portuguese colony.

The Eastern line starts at the North Pole runs through siberia, through the pacific just west of Japan, and cuts Australia in half. Of course, Australia hadn’t been discovered yet. Everything to the the east of this line is the new world.

Obviously, this treaty didn’t hold up well, but the reformation gave the protestant countries an excuse to explore the new world since they didn’t have to take orders from the Pope. Even so, France, a catholic country, ignored it too.

Really, the only country that was effected by the reformation in the exploration of the Americas was England. All the other countries, changed their religion once and then went to war with the nearest catholic country. Sweden became Lutheran and stayed that way. The Dutch Republic became Calvinists and stayed that way.

England kept switching. First it was Catholic. Then, Henry VIII made it protestant. Then, Henry’s daughter Mary I made it catholic again. Henry’s other daughter Elizabeth I (with the two hit movies) made it Protestant again.

Years latter, Oliver Cromwell over through the monarchy, executed the King Charles I, and established a Protestant fundamentalist religious military dictatorship. He outlawed drinking, smoking, gambling, theater, dirty books, sports, prostitution, and anything generally fun. He would have made Saudi Arabia proud. Basically, all you could do is work, pray, and die. Sex was allowed for creating children, but you couldn’t enjoy it.

When Cromwell died, the people of England said enough was enough and brought back the King. Charles II kicked out the fundamentalists and brought back drinking, smoking, gambling, dirty books, sports, prostitution, and having fun during sex. Incidentally, those were also all his hobbies.

This brings us to the famous Pilgrims. They were part of Cromwell’s crowd. They kept agitating a return to the no-fun policy. They annoyed everybody. They weren’t persecuted for practicing their religion, they were persecuted because they kept trying to force their religion on everyone else. Sort of like Southern Baptists.

Charles II was the most easy going monarch in British history. Do realize how annoying you have to be to get him to throw you out.

Charles’s brother James II was obsessed with turning Great Britain catholic again. After four years of trying, they kicked him and his followers out.

Which of the following statements describes the Industrial Revolution? a. It was quick and violent and produced few results. b. It took place mostly in rural areas among farmers. c. It depended largely on the development of the factory system. d. It occurred because of years of planning in the United States in the mid-1700s. Please select the best answer from the choices provided

The answer is C. In order to carefully control conditions and confirm or disconfirm a hypothesis about the causes of behavior, one must perform an experiment.

Explanation:

Experimental research allows the researcher to control all the variables in order to create the conditions that can confirm or disconfirm a hypothesis. This method aimes to establish a relation of causality between two variables, which means that one variable is generated and determined by the other; this is posible because all of the other variables that can influence it have been controlled.

When a researcher conducts a survey or engages in naturalistic observation, he can’t control the variables, therefore, he can only establish a correlation between two variables, but not of causality.

Well I live in Florida so; I can explain tourism has always had a large role in our history. During our development, tourism gave us the much needed boost in economy that we needed to get on our feet. People coming from all over to enjoy the oranges and warm sun and beaches was a large source of income for people all over. More people to boy products = a larger income. The ‘boom and bust’ is what im guessing was the time right before the stock market crashed. Americans were richer then ever, they took more vacations, they generally thought of themselves having a brighter economic future, which caused more spending, more vacations, more extravagance. This made Florida truly flourish for a time, becoming a hotspot for wealthy vacation homes. The Great Depression almost killed us.. many buisness owners had come to depend on tourism to make a living wage, but since the great depression loomed over everyone, no one took vacations. No one had extra money to spend. Many of those wealthy vacation homes went into foreclosure. The Floridian Economy tanked during this time, so bad we even feel ripple effects of it today, even though we have built up so much more.

What was a consequence for farmers during the dust bowl

The reason why farmers are unable to pick up the plentiful fruit that is being produced and harvested in California, in the novel “Grapes of Wrath”, is that although there is lots of produce to be picked, the prices, both for selling and of manual labor, have been driven down by the bigger companies, and thus, small farmers and collectors cannot afford to harvest, pick and sell all that produce. They depend now on bigger companies, and on the prices set by them, to at least have enough to survive.

Explanation:

“The Grapes of Wrath” is one of the many novels that was written by American author John Steinbeck, and which was published in 1939. On chapter 25, Steinbeck begins by talking about the bountiful produce of California, and those responsible, admirable men, who are behind such success. He praises the big farmers, and especially the scientists who have managed to increase production and improve the health of the land, the plants and the produce. However, at some point, he also begins to talk about how food is being laid to waste, with fruit falling from trees and being eaten by animals, or being burned, because the bigger corporations have forced the selling prices, and wages, down, and thus, have affected the small farmers, and laborers who once had benefited for this plentiful produce. Poverty increases, despite the surpluss, because except for the big corporations, no one else can afford to pick, treat, and sell the produce.

C. Yes, because the population values appear to be normally distributed.

Step-by-step explanation:

Given is a graph which shows the distribution of values of a population

The graph has the following characteristics

i) Bell shaped

ii) symmerical about mid vertical line

iii) Unimodal with mode = median =mean

iv) As x deviates more from the mean probability is decreasing and also curve approaches asymptotically the x axis

Hence we find that the curve is a distribution of normal

Option C is right

C. Yes, because the population values appear to be normally distributed.

Hey there!

Correct answer is D. Comma or Period Inside Rule

A. Question mark or exclamation point inside: those are not really necessary.

B. Colon or semicolon: not, a semicolon would divide the whole sentence and it would be shorten; a colon would work but after requested, when there is already a comma.

C. Question mark or Exclamation Point Outside Rule: would not work, becase it is an very polite and affirmative sentence.

D: A comma or period inside rule: actually, just a comma would work. Please, Cooper’s dad requested, go… Cooper’s dad requested must be in between commas as it is a vocative.

In Common Sense, Paine suggested that American independence from Great Britain was inevitable.

Further Explanation:

Common Sense was a famous pamphlet written by Thomas Paine in 1776. Paine was an English man who was visiting the American colonies and felt that the relationship between Great Britain and the colonists was highly ineffective. In this pamphlet, Paine argued that American would inevitably become free from British rule. The following is a list of some of the arguments made by Paine:

1) The thousands of miles between Great Britain and the American colonies make it extremely difficult for the colonial governments to work properly.

2) The American colonists are continually dragged into British wars with other countries (example= French and Indian War).

3) The American colonists have plenty of resources and trade opportunities with other countries (besides) Britain which would ensure their continued economic success.

These types of arguments convinced many American colonists that becoming completely free from British rule is the best decision possible. The ideas from this book even influenced the writing of the Declaration of Independence.

A chicken farm orders bags of feed from two farmers. Store X charges \$20 per bag, and store Y charges \$15 per bag. The farm must obtain at least 60 bags per week to care for the chickens properly. Store Y can provide a maximum of 40 bags per week, and the farm has committed to buy at least as many bags from store X as from store Y. The chicken farm wants to minimize the cost of ordering feed. Let x represent the number of bags of feed from store X and y represent the number of bags of feed from store Y. What are the constraints for the problem?

Answer: Graph of lines y equals 2 x plus 3 and y equals minus x plus 6. Lines intersect at ordered pair (1, 5)

Step-by-step explanation:

Here x represents the miles walked by Jacob and y represents the miles for which Jacob cycled.

Thus, the total distance covered by Jacob = x + y

But according to the question,

The total number of miles Jacob walked and cycled was 6 miles.

Therefore,  x + y = 6  ——-(1)

Also, The number of miles Jacob cycled was 3 miles more than twice the number of miles he walked.

That is, y = 2x + 3 ———-(2)

subtracting equation (2) from equation (1),

We get,

x = 6 – 2x – 3

⇒ x+2x = 6-3   ( by adding 2x both sides)

⇒ 3 x = 3

x = 1

Put the value of x in equation (1)

We get y = 5

Thus, Jacob walked 1 miles

And, he cycled 5 miles.

What happened in the farmland of the Great Plains in the 1930s? The government bought all the farms. Strong winds and drought created a Dust Bowl. Cotton farmers switched to farming barley. Soybean crops were smaller than usual.

Initially, The National Grange was a social and educational movement that fought against the isolation of farmers, but soon began to promote consumer and distribution cooperatives to eliminate intermediaries in the commercialization of agricultural products, although most of these cooperatives failed due to the lack of experience in management, the hostility of the already established cooperatives and the lack of support among the peasants.

At the beginning of the 1870s its affiliation increased because of the agrarian depression that was taking place in the United States, and it was precisely in those years when it participated in politics through the so-called “third parties”, with the main objective of ensuring that the States, especially those in the Midwest, where the organization was most established, will regulate railroad tariffs and grain storage silos.

With the return to prosperity at the end of the 1870s the organization was losing political force and returned to its initial objective: the social and educative improvement of the peasants.
