The error in grammar: it help

Correct verb form: it helps

Explanation:

In the simple present tense, third-person singular pronouns, like she, he and it, use conjugated verbs formed by the base form of a verb and the affix -s, -es, or -ies. For example: helps, thinks, cries, watches. In the excerpt provided, the error is in the verb help because it is not correctly conjugated for the pronoun it: it is missing an s at the end.

Which two geographic features prevented enemies from attacking china

[ad_1]

The Great Wall of China is the longest man-made structure in the world, stretching 21,196.18km (13,170.6956 miles) long. It was built to keep out raiding parties of nomadic tribes, such as the Mongol, Turic and Xiongnu, from modern-day Mongolia and Manchuria.

The first Emperor of China, Qin Shi Huang, is often considered the father of the Great Wall, but even before he united the nation in 221BC, individual states built walls to keep out invaders as early as the 7th Century. Qin connected, lengthened and fortified the walls to protect the northern border between 221-206BC. Subsequent dynasties, most notably the Ming, maintained and rebuilt it.

Read the passage. From “The First Seven Years” by Bernard Malamud “Thanks,” Max said, nervously alert. He was tall and grotesquely thin, with sharply cut features, particularly a beak-like nose. He was wearing a loose, long slushy overcoat that hung down to his ankles, looking like a rug draped over his bony shoulders, and a soggy, old brown hat, as battered as the shoes he had brought in. Identify the plot element in this passage.

Well; You have the classics

1984, you might have been asked to read this one already in school, if not I suggest going ahead and reading it; its fun to be ahead of your class.

Originally published in 1949 by George Orwell, 1984 depicts a dystopian world of the ‘future’. The book is less of a prediction more then it is a warning of what could be. It follows one character who is desperately trying to remember what real life is like, and gets tangled up in all sorts of messes along the way.

You could read Alice in Wonderland or Mary Poppins, theres a million great classics out there Im sure you can find on any website.

Personally I prefer fantasy novels;

Brandon Sanderson’s The Rithmatist
This book follows a young student through a steampunk style, magic infused world. It takes a moment to not chuckle at the concept of monsters that are essentially drawings, but its a very well done book with beautiful writing and mental scenery

Patrick Rothfuss’s, The Name of the Wind
This is my favorite book of all time. Patrick Rothfuss’s work is honestly amazing in this book. Mind you its probably not all that wise for the feint of heart through perhaps the second chapter; but it really is amazing. The sculpting of the world, the depth of the characters its utterly masterful. The story opens with Kote, a fairly normal seeming innkeeper and his dark haired companion Bast. Fairly normal until a man happens upon the inn, looking for a certain Kvothe, a man thought to just be a legend and a story… and Kote’s past is drug up, and other things that should probably be better left alone.

Which evidence supports the endosymbiotic theory? Select all that apply. Mitochondria and chloroplasts have a separate, simpler DNA from the nucleus DNA of a eukaryotic cell. These organelles’ DNA resembles the DNA of prokaryotic cells. Mitochondria and chloroplasts self-replicate by a cell division process similar to binary fission, which is the way prokaryotes divide. The way mitochondria and chloroplasts synthesize proteins within the eukaryote cell is more similar to prokaryotes than to eukaryotes. There are living examples of prokaryotes, like cyanobacteria, that share similar features with both mitochondria and chloroplasts of eukaryotic cells. Observations of prokaryotic cells engulfing other prokaryotic cells and the engulfed cells becoming the organelles have been recorded.

In tropical rain forest, the animals will have to deal with higher temperatures and greater rainfall. One example of an adaptation they might need is a thin, water-proof coat. This will prevent heat from becoming trapped inside their fur/hair/feathers, and the water-absorbing coating will allow water to stick to the inside of the coat without being absorbed, where the water will absorb the heat instead of themselves, and will cool the through evaporative cooling (heat release through evaporation)

In a deciduous forest, there is much colder temperatures, and significantly less rainfall. These animals would likely want a thicker water-proof coat. This is because the thicker coat would allow heat to become trapped, keeping them warm in the winter, and the water-proof coating prevents water from freezing in their fur, making them colder.

Bacteria have cell walls composed of peptidoglycan and lipids containing fatty acids, whereas Archaea lack the fatty acids and instead have isoprene.

2) B. Both have membrane-enclosed nuclei. They are NOT bacteria, have very different physical features, and most fungi are heterotrophic decomposers, not photosynthetic.

3) C. It allows people around the world to use only one name for an organism, and it gives information about the relationship of that organism to others. This is the most accurate answer amongst those listed.

4) C. As scientists have developed new techniques, evolutionary relationships have become better understood. DNA analysis now provides outstanding evidence linking different species, genuses, familia, orders, and classes.

The stages of mitosis were originally defined by cellular features observable through a light microscope. the six micrographs below show animal cells (lung cells from a newt) during the five stages of mitosis, plus cytokinesis. (note that interphase is not represented in these micrographs.) in these images, the chromosomes have been stained blue, microtubules green, and microfilaments red.

[ad_1]

From left to right.

1) Cytokinesis is almost
finishesd, so it’s the end of Telophase

2) The chromatids have just
split up and are migrating to each pole, so it’s Anaphase

3) All chromosomes are in the
equatorial plane, so it’s the end of Metaphase

4) The chromosomes are in the
poles and cytokinesis has just started, so it’s the beginning of Telophase

5) The spindle apparatus is
complete and the chromosomes are moving to the equatorial plate, so it’s the
beginning of Metaphase

6) The spindle apparatus is forming,
so it’s Prophase

If you want to put them in
chronological order, it’s like this:

6-5-3-2-4-1

Which sentence features a present participial phrase functioning as an adjective? Blushing furiously, the newcomer couldn’t believe he’d been so gullible. Fatigued after a long day, the woman recuperated with a quiet evening. Our teacher likes to spring impromptu tests on us so we keep studying. The heat radiating from the pavement caused the air to ripple and waver.

[ad_1]

The correct answer is B. For example, forests help the environment by soaking up carbon dioxide, conserving soil, and preventing flooding.

Explanation:

In writing, a transition refers to a word or set of words used to connect different section of sentences, sentences, and even paragraph. There are many types of transitions including transitions of orders such as first, second; transitions of addition such as also; transitions of contrast such as however, etc. each used in different cases and with different purposes. In the case of the text presented the sentence that would have a correct transition if added is “For example, forests help the environment by soaking up carbon dioxide, conserving soil, and preventing flooding”, because this sentence exemplifies the sentence ” Forests are more than just a pretty addition to the landscape” and therefore the use of this transition is appropriate and would make the text clearer.

Also, other options are incorrect, the use of “similarly” in the first sentence is incorrect because there is not a previous sentence or content that be compared, similarly the use of “however” in sentence “forests help people by providing a place to live and by providing jobs” is incorrect because this is a contrast transition and in this case there is not a contrast in the sentence and in the case of the final sentence using “to summarize” is also incorrect because this sentence is not summarizing the content of the paragraph.
