## SPENT 50 POINTS ON THIS QUESTION PLEASE HELP In the table, x represents minutes, and y represents the altitude of an airplane. Table x y 15 22,500 20 20,000 25 17,500 30 15,000 Which statement is correct about the slope of the linear function that the table represents? a.The slope is positive because as the minutes decrease, the altitude increases. b.The slope is positive because as the minutes increase, the altitude increases. c.The slope is negative because as the minutes decrease, the altitude decreases. d.The slope is negative because as the minutes increase, the altitude decreases.

Slope=changey/changex
well, the slope will be positive when the minutes (x) are increasing and the altitude (y) is also increasing
the slope will be negative when the minutes (x) are increasing and the altitude (y) is decreasing

we see that x increase
and y decreases
so the slope is negative because as minutes incrases, altitude decreases

## An enzyme is a protein that_____ transports nutrients across a membrane increases the rate of a chemical reaction receives and sends signals across a cell provides structure for the cell’s organelles

The given blank can be filled with that it increases the rate of a chemical reaction.

Explanation:

A substance or a component, which functions as a catalyst in the living species, monitoring the rate at which chemical reactions advances without itself getting changed in the entire process is known as an enzyme. The enzyme works by enhancing the rate of a chemical reaction. The biological procedures that take place inside the living species are the chemical reactions, and the majority of these are monitored by enzymes. In the absence of enzymes, several of these reactions would not occur at the desired rate.

## The function that represents the average cost per person, including transportation, to a museum is y= 25+8x/x Which statement is true about the graph of the function? The horizontal asymptote y = 0 means the cost approaches zero as the number of people increases. The horizontal asymptote y = 8 means the average cost approaches \$8 as the number of people increases. The vertical asymptote x = 0 means the cost approaches zero as the number of people increases. The vertical asymptote x = 8 means the cost approaches zero as the number of people increases.

The statement that is true about the graph of the function from the equation y = 25 + 8x/x which represents the average cost per person is “The horizontal asymptote y = 8 means the average cost approaches \$8 as the number of people increases.” It means that as x increases which represents the number of people, the value of the transportation to a museum averages to eight dollars.

## Suppose that a natural disaster substantially increases the cost of producing cheese. we would predict that the equilibrium quantity of cheese will ________ and the equilibrium price of cheese will ________.

The Contribution Margin per unit (CM) can be calculated
from the difference of Selling Price per unit (SP) and Total Expenses per unit
(TE).

First, let’s calculate the value of SP:

SP = Sales / Units sold

SP = \$1,043,400 / 22,200 units sold

SP = \$47

Second, calculate all expenses:

Direct materials per unit = \$234,948 / 27,970 units
manufactured = \$8.4

Direct labor per unit = \$131,459 / 27,970 units
manufactured = \$4.7

Variable manufacturing overhead per unit = \$240,542 / 27,970
units manufactured = \$8.6

Variable selling expenses per unit = \$113,220 / 22,200
units sold = \$5.1

TE = \$26.8

Therefore the CM is:

CM = SP – TE

CM = \$47 – \$26.8

CM = \$20.2 per unit

## Which statement best describes how a catalyst can speed up a chemical reaction? The catalyst makes lower energy pathways available. The catalyst increases the concentration of products. The catalyst binds to enzymes to release substrates. The catalyst increases the concentration of reactants.

There are two systems in the human body that are responsible for the coordination between the functions of different systems to achieve the unity of the living organism’s body. These two systems are the nervous system and the endocrine system. The action of the nervous system is fast and takes a short time, while the action of the endocrine system is slow and takes a long time.

The functional unit of the nervous system is the nerve cell or the neuron. The neuron consists of a cell body and the axon. The cell body starts with the dendrites that receive the messages or the impulses from other neurons or from different sense organs or receptors. These impulses are then transmitted through the cell body. The cell body contains a nucleus and different organelles which help the nerve cell to perform its functions. The nerve impulse is then transmitted to the axon.

The axon is an extension from the cell body. There are some cells called Schwan cells that secrete a myelin sheath to insulate the axon from the surrounding medium. The insulated axons have more ability to conduct the impulses than non-insulated axons. The axon ends with the terminal arborizations. The terminal arborizations of a nerve cell connect to the dendrites of the next cell or to the afferent organ. The gaps between the dendrites and the terminal arborizations are called the synapses.

The nerve impulse is an electrochemical phenomenon i.e. an electrical phenomenon with a chemical nature. The membrane of the axon acts as a barrier between an outside positively charged medium and an inside negatively charged medium. This makes a potential difference of  -70mV. This state is called the resting potential. When the membrane is subjected to a stimulus, the positive charges enter to inside and the negative charges exit to the outside. The potential difference now becomes +40mV. This state is called the depolarization state. The point of stimulation acts as a new stimulus for the next point and so on. The membrane sooner gains its permeability again and the positive charges return to the outside and the negative charges to inside. This state is called repolarization.

The nerve impulse reaches the synapse. There are some neurotransmitters that are excited by the nerve impulse coming and carry the message across the membrane. Some receptors receive theses neurotransmitters on the dendrites of the next neuron. These receptors act as a stimulus for the new cell.

Well; You have the classics

Originally published in 1949 by George Orwell, 1984 depicts a dystopian world of the ‘future’. The book is less of a prediction more then it is a warning of what could be. It follows one character who is desperately trying to remember what real life is like, and gets tangled up in all sorts of messes along the way.

You could read Alice in Wonderland or Mary Poppins, theres a million great classics out there Im sure you can find on any website.

Personally I prefer fantasy novels;

Brandon Sanderson’s The Rithmatist
This book follows a young student through a steampunk style, magic infused world. It takes a moment to not chuckle at the concept of monsters that are essentially drawings, but its a very well done book with beautiful writing and mental scenery

Patrick Rothfuss’s, The Name of the Wind
This is my favorite book of all time. Patrick Rothfuss’s work is honestly amazing in this book. Mind you its probably not all that wise for the feint of heart through perhaps the second chapter; but it really is amazing. The sculpting of the world, the depth of the characters its utterly masterful. The story opens with Kote, a fairly normal seeming innkeeper and his dark haired companion Bast. Fairly normal until a man happens upon the inn, looking for a certain Kvothe, a man thought to just be a legend and a story… and Kote’s past is drug up, and other things that should probably be better left alone.

## Tina conducted an experiment to test her hypothesis. Her hypothesis was that by crushing aspirin and putting it into potting soil increases the growth rate of tomato plants. The results of the experiment show that there was no significant difference in the growth rates between the control and the experimental groups. What should Tina do with the results of this experiment?

The unknown of this problem is the experimental percent of water in the compound in order to remove the water of hydrogen, given the following:

Mass of crucible, cover and contents before heating                               23.54 g
Mass of empty crucible and cover                                                            18.82 g
Mass of crucible, cover, and contents after heating to constant mass     20.94 g

In order to get the answer, determine the following:

Mass of hydrated salt used                          = 23.54 g – 18.82 g = 4.72 g
Mass of dehydrated salt after heating          = 20.94 g – 18.82 g = 2.12 g
Mass of water liberated from salt                 = 4.72 g – 2.12 g = 2.60 g

Then solve the percent of water in the hydrated salt by:

% water = (mass of water / mass of hydrated salt) x 100
% water = 2.60 g / 4.72 g x 100
% water = 55.08 % in the compound

(2 points) Part C: After approximately how many years is the number of alligators and crocodiles the same? Justify your answer mathematically. (4 points)

The polinomials only can have positive whole exponents, that is: 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, … (you can include 0 also, because it iis the independent term).

So, if you are told that one term of the polynomial is 9 x ^ (negative something), it is necessary that the number after the negative sign be negative, given that negative times negative is positive.

Therefore, the only possible option from the answer choices is the option 3) -9.

## The graph of an exponential function is a curved line that increases or decreases True False

The basis to respond this question are:

1) Perpedicular lines form a 90° angle between them.

2) The product of the slopes of two any perpendicular lines is – 1.

So, from that basic knowledge you can analyze each option:

a.Lines s and t have slopes that are opposite reciprocals.

TRUE. Tha comes the number 2 basic condition for the perpendicular lines.

slope_1 * slope_2 = – 1 => slope_1 = – 1 / slope_2, which is what opposite reciprocals means.

b.Lines s and t have the same slope.

FALSE. We have already stated the the slopes are opposite reciprocals.

c.The product of the slopes of s and t is equal to -1

TRUE: that is one of the basic statements that you need to know and handle.

d.The lines have the same steepness.

FALSE: the slope is a measure of steepness, so they have different steepness.

e.The lines have different y intercepts.

FALSE: the y intercepts may be equal or different. For example y = x + 2 and y = -x + 2 are perpendicular and both have the same y intercept, 2.

f.The lines never intersect.

FALSE: perpendicular lines always intersept (in a 90° angle).

g.The intersection of s and t forms right angle.

TRUE: right angle = 90°.

h.If the slope of s is 6, the slope of t is -6

FALSE. – 6 is not the opposite reciprocal of 6. The opposite reciprocal of 6 is – 1/6.

So, the right choices are a, c and g.

## Which statement correctly compares the pH of water to that of other substances? a: The pH of water increases as its temperature increases, while other substances have a stable pH. b: The pH of water is neutral; it is higher than the pH of acids and lower than pH of bases c: Water contains more hydrogen ions than most other substances, giving it a higher pH. d: Water is neutral and has a pH of 0; acids have a pH greater than 0 and bases have a pH less than 0

In tropical rain forest, the animals will have to deal with higher temperatures and greater rainfall. One example of an adaptation they might need is a thin, water-proof coat. This will prevent heat from becoming trapped inside their fur/hair/feathers, and the water-absorbing coating will allow water to stick to the inside of the coat without being absorbed, where the water will absorb the heat instead of themselves, and will cool the through evaporative cooling (heat release through evaporation)

In a deciduous forest, there is much colder temperatures, and significantly less rainfall. These animals would likely want a thicker water-proof coat. This is because the thicker coat would allow heat to become trapped, keeping them warm in the winter, and the water-proof coating prevents water from freezing in their fur, making them colder.

## A shift in the demand curve for pretzels increases the price of pretzels from \$1.25 to \$1.75 and its quantity demanded from 30 million to 35 million. the price elasticity of demand for pretzels is _____. ?

Initial price, P₀ = \$1.25
Initial demand, Q₀ = 30 million

New price, P₁ = \$1.75
New demand, Q₁ = 35 million

By definition, price elasticity is η = (5/65)/(0.5/3)
= 0.4615

Answer: η = 0.46 (nearest hundredth)

This means that greater demand makes it possible to increase the price. Usually, this is not the case because lowering the price increases sales.

## An old door is very hard to open until oil is sprayed on its hinges. What does the oils do? A)It increases the force of friction B)It increases the force of gravity C) It reduces the force of gravity D)It reduces the force of friction

The gravitational force Fg between two objects is given by the equation:

Fg=(G*m₁*m₂)/r₂, where G=6.67*10^-11 m³ kg⁻¹ s⁻² is the gravitational constant, m₁ and m₂ are the masses of the two bodies and r is the distance between those bodies.

Due to the gravitational attraction the pencil and the eraser will attract if we there is no friction on the surface.

m₁=10 g=0.01 kg is the mass of the pencil
m₂=20 g=0.02 kg is the mass of the eraser
r=2.5 cm = 0.025 m

First we calculate the Fg:

Fg={(6.67*10^-11)*0.01*0.02}/(0.025²)=2.1344*10^-11 N

To get the velocity v of the pencil:

v²=2as, where a is the acceleration of the pencil and s is the path. In our case s=r so we can write:

v²=2ar

a=Fg/m₁= 2.133*10^-9 m/s²

v²=2*(2.133*10^-9)*0.025=1.0665*10^-10

v=√(1.0665*10^-10)=1.0327*10^-5 m/s

We have the velocity and the acceleration, so we can calculate the time t with the equation:

t=v/a=(1.0327*10^-5)/(2.133*10^-9)=4841.6 s

1 hour has 3600 s so when we divide time t in seconds by 3600 we get time T in hours:

T=t/3600=4841.6/3600=1.3449 h.

So the time for the pencil and eraser to touch is T=1.3449 hours.

Also time T can be expressed like T= 1h and 20 mins and 41.64 s
