Read the excerpts from different sections “The Scarlet Ibis.” Although Doodle learned to crawl, he showed no signs of walking, but he wasn’t idle. He talked so much that we all quit listening to what he said. It was about this time that Daddy built him a go-cart and I had to pull him around. At first I just paraded him up and down the piazza, but then he started crying to be taken out into the yard and it ended up by my having to lug him wherever I went. If I so much as picked up my cap, he’d start crying to go with me and Mama would call from wherever she was, “Take Doodle with you.” *** He’d nod his head, and I’d say, “Well, if you don’t keep trying, you’ll never learn.” Then I’d paint for him a picture of us as old men, white-haired, him with a long white beard and me still pulling him around in the go-cart. This never failed to make him try again. Based on these excerpts, what best describes the symbol of the go-cart within the story? It changes from a symbol of youth to a symbol of old age. It changes from a symbol of success to a symbol of failure. It changes from a symbol of hope to a symbol of desperation. It changes from a symbol of freedom to a symbol of captivity.
Which sentence from the essay best conveys the central idea of “Life Without Go Go Boots”? The rest of my life would be endurable if I had a pair of those white, calf-high confections with little black heels I learned what my mother had been trying to tell me all along: high fashion has the shelf life of potato salad. Style is mostly a matter of acting as if you know very well what you look like, thanks, and are just delighted about it I have a feeling the day might come when my daughter will beg to be a slave of conventional fashion.

For your first question, consider the difference between emergency care and elective surgery. Elective surgery is planned out in advance and is considered a luxury to those who can pay for it only. In some situations, people can opt out of treating something with surgery, especially if it’s expensive, and may try other methods of treating what they have if other options exist. Also, as the price of a surgery procedure gets higher, less people will be able to pay for it, decreasing the demand. On the contrary, when it’s an emergency, people will often value the life of the urgent patient above all else, including money. Therefore, it can be assumed that urgent care will always be demanded regardless of its price fluctuation.
For your second question, consider the general consensus of people who purchase health care (in general). These people likely think about the possibility of falling ill and needing the health care in the first place. These people also likely think of all that could happen on vacation, especially to foreign countries where immunities and illnesses could be very different, and would like to minimize the possibility of getting ill as much as possible. So, it would make sense that someone who buys more health care would spend less on vacationing and vice versa.
Hope this helped you out! 🙂

Hope this helps
Answer:Leo Tolstoy wrote the novella The Death of Ivan Ilyich to criticize the emerging middle class of modern Russia in the nineteenth century. Ivan Ilyich, his family, and his friends are part of this budding middle class. Tolstoy’s aim in writing this novella was to criticize the thoughts and the approach of middle class people toward their families, their jobs, and society. He used the life of Ivan Ilyich to demonstrate all the aspects of the middle class that he believed were wrong. Tolstoy portrays Ivan Ilyich as a man whose life decisions are based on social acceptance. He chooses his friends and even his wife based on their social standing. When he starts to find his family life unpleasant because of his wife’s constant nagging, he limits his interactions with the whole family. Instead, he seeks comfort in his work. He assumes a formal relationship with his family members, particularly his wife. This change in his feelings and attitude toward his family does not seem strange to him. On the contrary, getting away from his family becomes his life goal:
This aloofness might have grieved Ivan Ilyich had he considered that it ought not to exist, but he now regarded the position as normal, and even made it the goal at which he aimed in family life.
Tolstoy deplored the middle-class habit of maintaining distance with family members in private but keeping up appearances of closeness for the public. Tolstoy shows his character Ivan Ilyich making the effort to maintain this detachment from his family members while ensuring that his family appears on the outside to be a regular and happy family. Even when he has to be at home with his family, he makes sure that they have guests. That way, he can avoid confrontations or meaningful discussions with his family:
His aim was to free himself more and more from those unpleasantnesses and to give them a semblance of harmlessness and propriety. He attained this by spending less and less time with his family, and when obliged to be at home he tried to safeguard his position by the presence of outsiders.
Ilyich’s work soon becomes an obsession, and everything else, including his family is secondary to his job:
The chief thing however was that he had his official duties. The whole interest of his life now centered in the official world and that interest absorbed him.
Through Ivan Ilyich, Tolstoy portrayed a class of people who make determined efforts to escape human contact and suffering by seemingly living in denial. They are people who run away from love and relationships, and they are unwilling to reflect on their lives. Instead, they choose to exist in their self-centered world until they are jolted into reality. In Ivan Ilyich’s case, this jolt comes in the form of his illness in chapter 4.
Tolstoy would not have agreed with Ivan Ilyich’s priorities. Unlike Ivan, Tolstoy looked inward throughout his adult life. He searched for a deeper meaning and purpose, especially in regard to his political and religious ideals. While those ideals eventually caused Tolstoy to avoid his wife, he generally had a close relationship with his family. By all accounts, he seemed very much a man who loved and cherished his wife and their 10 children. While Tolstoy was dedicated to his writing, his family seemed to inspire him, rather than get in the way of his literary genius. His wife was involved in his work, having transcribed most of his writing. Even Tolstoy’s last days were spent on a pilgrimage that he embarked on with his youngest daughter.

Answer: Joshua is correct
Explanation: Animals, however well preserved and bred in conditions that are not in nature, that is, not in their natural habitat, animals still retain the animal instinct. Thus, young animals in the wild can be met daily, except for members of their species, and members of all other species, including predators, as well as humans. This means that in the natural environment, young animals can find themselves in a variety of dangers on a daily basis, but not only that. In this way young animals develop their ability to survive, escape from predators, manage, and develop their hunting skills, etc. All this is essential for socialization because according to all these developed skills and abilities their socialization depends. To deny any of the conditions prevailing in the wild means to deny the development of any skill or instinct, to deny proper socialization.

The correct answer to the question: Which best completes the following sentence: Two advantages of a confederation are that it…. and ….., would be: A: Prevents abuse of power by a national government; preserves local identity
The idea of a confederation system of government is to control the power of a central figure, by literally difussing that power towards the states, provinces, or regions, that will conform the union. In essence, in this system, the states are the ones that hold all the power, including that of taxation, policy making and revenue collection, and there is very little power given to the central government, thus preventing the abuse of power and the establishment of tyranny. Another advantage that it has, is that it creates a strong sense of identity, and belonging to the states that conform the union, to the point that people identify themselves with their particular state, rather than with the nation at large. This system was adopted by the United States for some time, but problems arose due to the division amongst the people of the union, and thus, they decided to change it to a federated system of government.
Lise Marie J. de Baissac came from a French family. She was born in Mauritius and had British nationality. She was the superstar of the Special Operations Team at the time of WW-II. She was a dignified agent who, multiple times, risked her life in order to work in national spy operations. After the war seized, she was received numbers of gallantry prizes.
However, the reason after every option for its acceptance or nonacceptance as the answer is mentioned beneath each point. Anyhow, the correct answer is darkened.
A. “When she … lived there.”
This line only defines a specific detail about how the special agent survived through a fake name as a spy. No theme is described through this sentence.
B. “Baissac’s goal … resistance groups.”
This statement the agent’s motive and the way she enacted the task provided. Still, the complete idea is not expressed within the line.
C. “Baissac did … her tasks.”
The writer is praising the efforts of Baissac in this sentence. He again writes how much hard work the agent did in order to achieve the national goals.
D. “As a … German troops.”
This is the statement that definitely defines the central idea of the excerpt. When we break this line into sections, we can see that it illustrates that she performed multiple essential tasks when appointed in Normandy. The phrase “sometimes dangerous tasks” describes the critical nature of the job she handled in there. And, also the opposition (German troops) is clearly mentioned in this sentence which helps to convey the idea very clearly.
c. The discoloration of ages had been great.
The Fall of the House of Usher (The Fall of the House of Usher) is a short story by Edgar Allan Poe first published in 1839. The story begins with an unnamed narrator who arrives at the home of his friend, Roderick Usher, having received a letter from him in a distant part of the country complaining about an illness, and asking for his help. When he arrives, the narrator observes a thin crack that extends from the roof at the front of the building to the lake.
Although Poe wrote this tale before the invention of modern psychological science, Roderick’s condition can be described according to his terminology. It includes a form of sensory overload known as hyperesthesia (hypersensitivity to textures, light, sounds, smells and tastes), hypochondria (an excessive worry or temerity in having a serious illness), and acute anxiety. It is revealed that Roderick’s twin sister, Madeline, is also ill and falls into cataleptic trances, as if in a state of death. The narrator is impressed by Roderick’s paintings, and tries to cheer him up by reading with him and listening to his improvised musical compositions on guitar. Roderick sings “The Haunted Palace,” then tells the narrator that he believes that the house in which he lives may be alive, and that this sensitivity stems from the arrangement of the house and the surrounding vegetation.
The correct answer is: C) To persuade his countrymen to not feel hatred toward the British.
In this speech, Mohandas Gandhi, enumerates the reasons why hating the british people is wrong. We can see that this is a persuasive speech, meaning that the author tries to make the audience do something in specific or feel in a certain way about a topic by using diferent arguments. Here Gandhi states that the real enemy is the British imperialism, which is not personified strictly by the British people, that is the reason he makes a comparison between them. He also states the dangers of reinforcing it, as it can make people choose another type of domination, the Japanese in this case, as long as the British go away.
As we can see, the arguments used by Gandhi support this main idea, by stopping hate agains the British people, they can achieve freedom and India would be able to take responsibility for his own actions. Although the other options are found in the text they serve, as I say, to illustrate Gandhi’s main point.
The order that man must create out of the chaos of the universe creates a feeling that Sartre calls anguish.
Sartre , XX century, thinks that man is thrown into the existing world. He believes that existence comes before essence. This means that man lives in a context and this experience or existence in time and place will make him be. He can be poor, rich, intelligent, wise, selfish ,etc. Man is not born with these characteristics, so these are not part of man’s essence. The fact , then, that man has to construct his own way in this chaotic world is what makes him feel anguish.
These are not right:
instinct ( Instinct is part of our innate or essence. Sartre does not believe in this.)
omen ( Man will not live according to any prophesy. Man will be the creator of his own destiny).
quietism ( Sartre opposes this idea because man is expected to act upon the universe not to just contemplate it).
Which is not a combination of innate and learned behavior?
Spencer and Jeremiah both are correct
We have given an equation 6x-2 = -4x+2
In this case spencer and jeremiah both are correct whether we first subtract 6x from both sides or we add 4x to both sides will not lead to any incorrection we will get the same result after simplification from both the methods
If we subtract 6x from both sides we will get 6x-6x-2= -4x-6x+2 after simplification we will get -2 = -10x+2
After further simplification we will get x=4/10=2/5
And if we add 4x on both sides we will get 6x+4x-2= -4x+4x+2 after simplification we will get 10x -2 =2 which eventually gives the result
Therefore, Both are correct
