Read the poem below and answer the question that follows. “Blazon” by Cecilia Woloch —after Breton My love with his hair of nightingales With his chest of pigeon flutter, of gray doves preening themselves at dawn With his shoulders of tender balconies half in shadow, half in sun My love with his long-boned thighs the map of Paris of my tongue With his ink-stained tongue, his tongue the tip of a steeple plunged into milky sky My love with his wishing teeth With his fingers of nervous whispering, his fingers of a boy whose toys were cheap and broken easily My love with his silent thumbs With his eyes of a window smudged of a train that passes in the night With his nape of an empty rain coat hung by the collar, sweetly bowed My love with his laughter of an empty stairwell, rain all afternoon With his mouth the deepest flower to which I have ever put my mouth Source: Woloch, Cecilia. “Blazon.” Blogalicious. Which of the following items could serve as a primary source for a historian studying the American Civil War? A. A journal written by a Civil War soldier describing a major battle B. A map of important Civil War battles printed in a military history textbook C. A documentary film describing important Civil War generals D. An essay about Civil War soldiers written by a modern graduate student

[ad_1]

Answered by answersmine AT 22/10/2019 – 02:51 AM

The correct option is A.
There are two basic sources which an author can draw from when writing an article. The first one is primary source and this refers to an account of an event or history by a person who actually witness the event or the person who experience the event directly. The second one is secondary source and it refers to those accounts of events that are drawn from primary sources.
Thus, a journal account about civil war by a civil war soldier who experienced the war is considered a primary source.

PLEASE HELP ME ASAP!!! I WILL GIVE YOU A THANKS AND GIVE YOU BRIANLIEST ANSWER!!! The triangles are congruent by SSS or HL. Which transformation(s) can map MNQ onto PQN? a. translation only b. reflection only c. rotation, then reflection d. rotation, then translation

[ad_1]

Answer: d. rotation, then translation

Step-by-step explanation:

In the given figure, there is a pair of triangles ΔMNQ and ΔPQN.

When we rotate ΔMNQ about point Q 180° counter clockwise to form ΔM’N’Q’,[such that the sides of ΔM’N’Q will be parallel to corresponding sides of ΔPQN].

Then we apply translation towards right so that it will became ΔPQN.

Hence, the right transformation(s) can map MNQ onto PQN are rotation, then translation

The Reformation actually started after Columbus’s landing in North America.

Treaty of Tordesillas in 1494 was forced on Spain and Portugal by the Pope. The Pope basically said that all lands in the New World belonged to Spain and all new non-Christian lands in the Eastern Hemisphere belong to Portugal. No other Catholic countries can do anything in those areas without the approval of the owner.

The pope basically drew two lines on the globe setting the border. The western line started at the north pole cut half way through Greenland and ended at the south pole. The new world was everything to the west. Problem is that it ran through a chunk of Brazil which is why Brazil is an ex-Portuguese colony.

The Eastern line starts at the North Pole runs through siberia, through the pacific just west of Japan, and cuts Australia in half. Of course, Australia hadn’t been discovered yet. Everything to the the east of this line is the new world.

Obviously, this treaty didn’t hold up well, but the reformation gave the protestant countries an excuse to explore the new world since they didn’t have to take orders from the Pope. Even so, France, a catholic country, ignored it too.

Really, the only country that was effected by the reformation in the exploration of the Americas was England. All the other countries, changed their religion once and then went to war with the nearest catholic country. Sweden became Lutheran and stayed that way. The Dutch Republic became Calvinists and stayed that way.

England kept switching. First it was Catholic. Then, Henry VIII made it protestant. Then, Henry’s daughter Mary I made it catholic again. Henry’s other daughter Elizabeth I (with the two hit movies) made it Protestant again.

Years latter, Oliver Cromwell over through the monarchy, executed the King Charles I, and established a Protestant fundamentalist religious military dictatorship. He outlawed drinking, smoking, gambling, theater, dirty books, sports, prostitution, and anything generally fun. He would have made Saudi Arabia proud. Basically, all you could do is work, pray, and die. Sex was allowed for creating children, but you couldn’t enjoy it.

When Cromwell died, the people of England said enough was enough and brought back the King. Charles II kicked out the fundamentalists and brought back drinking, smoking, gambling, dirty books, sports, prostitution, and having fun during sex. Incidentally, those were also all his hobbies.

This brings us to the famous Pilgrims. They were part of Cromwell’s crowd. They kept agitating a return to the no-fun policy. They annoyed everybody. They weren’t persecuted for practicing their religion, they were persecuted because they kept trying to force their religion on everyone else. Sort of like Southern Baptists.

Charles II was the most easy going monarch in British history. Do realize how annoying you have to be to get him to throw you out.

Charles’s brother James II was obsessed with turning Great Britain catholic again. After four years of trying, they kicked him and his followers out.

What rotation will map the figure onto itself?

[ad_1]

Answer:

Option B.

Step-by-step explanation:

We have to find the transformation done to map figure L onto figure L’.

Option A. Horizontal translation of 8 units

If we take a point (-4, 2) of the figure L then we this point will map a point of figure L’ at (2, 2).

So translation done was (x – x’) = 2- (-4) = 2 + 4 = 6 units

This option is incorrect.

Option B. Horizontal translation of 6 units

It’s true as we have calculated above.

Option C. Reflection across x- axis

Incorrect because figure L’ is not a picture image across x-axis.

Option D. Reflection across y – axis

Incorrect because there figure L has been translated to form figure L’ towards right.

Option B. is the correct option.

Reflecting over which line will map the rhombus onto itself

[ad_1]

The basis to respond this question are:

1) Perpedicular lines form a 90° angle between them.

2) The product of the slopes of two any perpendicular lines is – 1.

So, from that basic knowledge you can analyze each option:

a.Lines s and t have slopes that are opposite reciprocals.

TRUE. Tha comes the number 2 basic condition for the perpendicular lines.

slope_1 * slope_2 = – 1 => slope_1 = – 1 / slope_2, which is what opposite reciprocals means.

b.Lines s and t have the same slope.

FALSE. We have already stated the the slopes are opposite reciprocals.

c.The product of the slopes of s and t is equal to -1

TRUE: that is one of the basic statements that you need to know and handle.

d.The lines have the same steepness.

FALSE: the slope is a measure of steepness, so they have different steepness.

e.The lines have different y intercepts.

FALSE: the y intercepts may be equal or different. For example y = x + 2 and y = -x + 2 are perpendicular and both have the same y intercept, 2.

f.The lines never intersect.

FALSE: perpendicular lines always intersept (in a 90° angle).

g.The intersection of s and t forms right angle.

TRUE: right angle = 90°.

h.If the slope of s is 6, the slope of t is -6

FALSE. – 6 is not the opposite reciprocal of 6. The opposite reciprocal of 6 is – 1/6.

So, the right choices are a, c and g.

A compass rose _____. A. helps you determine your heading B. helps sight landmarks when traveling C. shows the compass points on a map D. indicates your direction of travel

Here are a few pointers; hope this is useful)

Ovation-by definition- is show of appreciation from an audience, for a person’s accomplishments or flaw.

“Everyone deserves a standing ovation because we all overcometh the world.”

A person’s accomplishment could be how they made a positive change in this world, strong leadership- that makes them a effective leader or simply helping others. A person’s flaw- mistakes in life, sin or even guilt should also be considered an appreciation- an ovation for representing mankind’s flaw and that humanity makes mistakes, fulfilling at least one deadly sin such as greed, lust, selfishness etc.

Thus, regardless of a person’s achievement or flaw- a person deserves an applause for, not the least, living in this society and this world that we are all living together and dying together.

That was just the introduction.. the best part is yet to come.. now it’s your turn!!

Here are other pointers to talk about in your essay:

Shakespeare’s famous line “All the World’s a stage. That agrees with your line: “Everybody deserves a standing ovation…”

Shakespeare explains that men and women are like players: they live, and die, some being celebrated and some forever living in solitude till their death. Shakespeare states the world is a “stage” which symbolizes that mankind is in its peak. The world is changing everyday: little by little and humanity is falling behind.
Due to our world turning into machinery: factories, an automotive future: where humans only job to live (entrance) and to die (exit) the famous humans remembered and the flawed not recalled.

This is according to Shakespeare’s imagery.

I don’t know what grade your in, but I think simplifying Shakespeare’s word of mouth in your essay would be handy and useful as it has strong references of your quote, and agrees strongly in your essay.

Hope this helps 🙂

Please help me! Which number on the map identifies a U.S. territory or protectorate?

[ad_1]

Answer:

The correct answer here is to identify voters who will support their candidate.

Explanation:

Door-to-door campaigning is a process and a method that has been used by a lot of different organizations because it allows for a more personalized and individualized contact so that messages can be conveyed in a more personal manner. But probably, one of the sectors that has used this method more is the political sector, especially during political campaigns. This is because it allows for candidates to, through their representatives, have closer contact with their potential voters, it allows for messages to be delivered directly to individuals, instead of in mass, which can also help convince those who are undecided, and most importantly, this method allows candidates to rally their voters, seem closer to them and generate a voter group who will support the candidate.

What is the reason for why Liberia, in West Africa not associated with a europian power on this map? What’s the reason for this

[ad_1]

The correct answer is Ethnic unrest in the Balkans and Ottoman Empire caused conflict between the alliances.

In 1912 and 1913, just before the assassination of Archduke Franz Ferdinand and the start of World War I in 1914, the Balkan Wars would leave a trail of disaster as four Balkan states defeated the Ottoman Empire. This war was caused because first of all the Ottoman Empire could not deal with the diverse ethnicity of the people it governed, much less with its rising nationalism, also because the Empire failed to govern and to reform itself to govern more efficiently; the Balkans felt they had to take the issue into their own hands, and finally the four Balkan states had formed the Balkan league and were confident together they could be free of the Turks. As this war took place, the alliances began to test each other: who was willing to take the chance to defend its allies in these wars? Everyone was saving their millitary for their own enemies. No one wanted to use them on another one’s quarrel. Tension rose and this prepared the ground for the final straw.

Which transformation will map figure L onto figure L’?

[ad_1]

1. Drop the perpendicular from M to the x -axis, and the perpendicular from N to the y-axis.

Let these perpendiculars intersection be point A, with coordinates (2, 4).

[clearly A will have x coordinate equal to the x coordinate of M, and y coordinate equal to the y coordinate of N]

2. Let P be the point on NM such that |NP|/|PM|=1/3

3. Drop the perpendiculars from point P to AN and AM. Let the foot of these perpendiculars be points P’ and P” respectively.

4. By Thales theorem: |NP’|/|P’A|=1/3 and |AP”|/|P”M|=1/3

so let |NP’|=b, |P’A|=3b, |AP”|=c, |P”M|=3c, as shown in the figure

5. |AN|=14-2=12.
    |AN|=4b so b=12/4=3

the x coordinate of P’=2+3b=2+9=11
the x coordinate of P= the x coordinate of P’=11

similarly |AM|=8-4=4
              |AM|=4c so c=1

the y coordinate of P” is 4+c=4+1=5

the y coordinate of P = the y coordinate of P”=5

Answer: (11, 5)
