[ad_1]

The news media, also known as the news industry has the important task of creating news. The construction of the news is based on a set of criteria, operations and instruments to choose from among countless facts and come out with a limited amount of news. It is based on the news-values that are criteria and operations used to define which events are significant and interesting to be transformed into news.

The point-of-view of news and the way reporters write the news in newsmagazines, commercials, and interviews headline is designed to grab interest and it is often displayed by using some sort of audio-visual equipment such as billboards and digital screens with LED lights like in Times Square.  The news must be capable of producing an affective or emotional response in the recipients. Also the radio, television and the internet (blogs) are another form of news media.

Answer:

Henri Rousseau’s Portrait of a Woman

Explanation:

Magical Realism finds precedent in eighteenth-century Gothic novels, but also connects with sixteenth-century Baroque or Surrealism, almost contemporary in the early twentieth century.

Among the most striking features of this movement, we find the blend of realism with pure unreality that is observed as normal, with the integration of magical elements without seeming extraordinary.

These works do not explain the supernatural elements and are narrated as something natural, with characters unaware of their transcendent dimension. In addition, death has paramount value in the relativistic discourse of truth, with a metaphysical focus on space and time and an intimate atmosphere that blends characters with myths, legends, and natural cultures.

Henri Rousseau’s Portrait of a Woman is considered one of the first magical realistic stories.

Answer:Leo Tolstoy wrote the novella The Death of Ivan Ilyich to criticize the emerging middle class of modern Russia in the nineteenth century. Ivan Ilyich, his family, and his friends are part of this budding middle class. Tolstoy’s aim in writing this novella was to criticize the thoughts and the approach of middle class people toward their families, their jobs, and society. He used the life of Ivan Ilyich to demonstrate all the aspects of the middle class that he believed were wrong. Tolstoy portrays Ivan Ilyich as a man whose life decisions are based on social acceptance. He chooses his friends and even his wife based on their social standing. When he starts to find his family life unpleasant because of his wife’s constant nagging, he limits his interactions with the whole family. Instead, he seeks comfort in his work. He assumes a formal relationship with his family members, particularly his wife. This change in his feelings and attitude toward his family does not seem strange to him. On the contrary, getting away from his family becomes his life goal:

This aloofness might have grieved Ivan Ilyich had he considered that it ought not to exist, but he now regarded the position as normal, and even made it the goal at which he aimed in family life.

Tolstoy deplored the middle-class habit of maintaining distance with family members in private but keeping up appearances of closeness for the public. Tolstoy shows his character Ivan Ilyich making the effort to maintain this detachment from his family members while ensuring that his family appears on the outside to be a regular and happy family. Even when he has to be at home with his family, he makes sure that they have guests. That way, he can avoid confrontations or meaningful discussions with his family:

His aim was to free himself more and more from those unpleasantnesses and to give them a semblance of harmlessness and propriety. He attained this by spending less and less time with his family, and when obliged to be at home he tried to safeguard his position by the presence of outsiders.

Ilyich’s work soon becomes an obsession, and everything else, including his family is secondary to his job:

The chief thing however was that he had his official duties. The whole interest of his life now centered in the official world and that interest absorbed him.

Through Ivan Ilyich, Tolstoy portrayed a class of people who make determined efforts to escape human contact and suffering by seemingly living in denial. They are people who run away from love and relationships, and they are unwilling to reflect on their lives. Instead, they choose to exist in their self-centered world until they are jolted into reality. In Ivan Ilyich’s case, this jolt comes in the form of his illness in chapter 4.

Tolstoy would not have agreed with Ivan Ilyich’s priorities. Unlike Ivan, Tolstoy looked inward throughout his adult life. He searched for a deeper meaning and purpose, especially in regard to his political and religious ideals. While those ideals eventually caused Tolstoy to avoid his wife, he generally had a close relationship with his family. By all accounts, he seemed very much a man who loved and cherished his wife and their 10 children. While Tolstoy was dedicated to his writing, his family seemed to inspire him, rather than get in the way of his literary genius. His wife was involved in his work, having transcribed most of his writing. Even Tolstoy’s last days were spent on a pilgrimage that he embarked on with his youngest daughter.

In Act II, Scene 1, how does Walter react to Mama’s news in A Raisin In The Sun?

[ad_1]

The correct answer to what does Brueghel’s painting include that isn’t mentioned in Ovid’s original myth about Icarus is C. A ship.

In Ovid’s original myth, Icarus and his father Daedalus escape from the island of Crete flying with wings made by Daedalus using feathers and bee wax. While they succeed in flying, Icarus ignores his father’s warning and flies too close to the sun. The wax melts and he falls to the sea and drowns.

Ovid mentions obviously the sun and Daedalus, since they are crucial elements of the myth, but he also mentions a ploughman and a shepperd who are “astonished and thinks to see gods approaching them through the aether.”

The only element that is not mentioned in the myth and appears in the painting is the ship, which may have been included to give more power to the composition of the painting.

Answer:    Joshua is correct

Explanation:  Animals, however well preserved and bred in conditions that are not in nature, that is, not in their natural habitat, animals still retain the animal instinct. Thus, young animals in the wild can be met daily, except for members of their species, and members of all other species, including predators, as well as humans. This means that in the natural environment, young animals can find themselves in a variety of dangers on a daily basis, but not only that. In this way young animals develop their ability to survive, escape from predators, manage, and develop their hunting skills, etc. All this is essential for socialization because according to all these developed skills and abilities their socialization depends. To deny any of the conditions prevailing in the wild means to deny the development of any skill or instinct, to deny proper socialization.

ANSWER NOW PLEASE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!According to the infographic, what are the top two ways that people access news?

[ad_1]

Here are a few pointers; hope this is useful)

Ovation-by definition- is show of appreciation from an audience, for a person’s accomplishments or flaw.

“Everyone deserves a standing ovation because we all overcometh the world.”

A person’s accomplishment could be how they made a positive change in this world, strong leadership- that makes them a effective leader or simply helping others. A person’s flaw- mistakes in life, sin or even guilt should also be considered an appreciation- an ovation for representing mankind’s flaw and that humanity makes mistakes, fulfilling at least one deadly sin such as greed, lust, selfishness etc.

Thus, regardless of a person’s achievement or flaw- a person deserves an applause for, not the least, living in this society and this world that we are all living together and dying together.

That was just the introduction.. the best part is yet to come.. now it’s your turn!!

Here are other pointers to talk about in your essay:

Shakespeare’s famous line “All the World’s a stage. That agrees with your line: “Everybody deserves a standing ovation…”

Shakespeare explains that men and women are like players: they live, and die, some being celebrated and some forever living in solitude till their death. Shakespeare states the world is a “stage” which symbolizes that mankind is in its peak. The world is changing everyday: little by little and humanity is falling behind.
Due to our world turning into machinery: factories, an automotive future: where humans only job to live (entrance) and to die (exit) the famous humans remembered and the flawed not recalled.

This is according to Shakespeare’s imagery.

I don’t know what grade your in, but I think simplifying Shakespeare’s word of mouth in your essay would be handy and useful as it has strong references of your quote, and agrees strongly in your essay.

Hope this helps 🙂

The Reformation actually started after Columbus’s landing in North America.

Treaty of Tordesillas in 1494 was forced on Spain and Portugal by the Pope. The Pope basically said that all lands in the New World belonged to Spain and all new non-Christian lands in the Eastern Hemisphere belong to Portugal. No other Catholic countries can do anything in those areas without the approval of the owner.

The pope basically drew two lines on the globe setting the border. The western line started at the north pole cut half way through Greenland and ended at the south pole. The new world was everything to the west. Problem is that it ran through a chunk of Brazil which is why Brazil is an ex-Portuguese colony.

The Eastern line starts at the North Pole runs through siberia, through the pacific just west of Japan, and cuts Australia in half. Of course, Australia hadn’t been discovered yet. Everything to the the east of this line is the new world.

Obviously, this treaty didn’t hold up well, but the reformation gave the protestant countries an excuse to explore the new world since they didn’t have to take orders from the Pope. Even so, France, a catholic country, ignored it too.

Really, the only country that was effected by the reformation in the exploration of the Americas was England. All the other countries, changed their religion once and then went to war with the nearest catholic country. Sweden became Lutheran and stayed that way. The Dutch Republic became Calvinists and stayed that way.

England kept switching. First it was Catholic. Then, Henry VIII made it protestant. Then, Henry’s daughter Mary I made it catholic again. Henry’s other daughter Elizabeth I (with the two hit movies) made it Protestant again.

Years latter, Oliver Cromwell over through the monarchy, executed the King Charles I, and established a Protestant fundamentalist religious military dictatorship. He outlawed drinking, smoking, gambling, theater, dirty books, sports, prostitution, and anything generally fun. He would have made Saudi Arabia proud. Basically, all you could do is work, pray, and die. Sex was allowed for creating children, but you couldn’t enjoy it.

When Cromwell died, the people of England said enough was enough and brought back the King. Charles II kicked out the fundamentalists and brought back drinking, smoking, gambling, dirty books, sports, prostitution, and having fun during sex. Incidentally, those were also all his hobbies.

This brings us to the famous Pilgrims. They were part of Cromwell’s crowd. They kept agitating a return to the no-fun policy. They annoyed everybody. They weren’t persecuted for practicing their religion, they were persecuted because they kept trying to force their religion on everyone else. Sort of like Southern Baptists.

Charles II was the most easy going monarch in British history. Do realize how annoying you have to be to get him to throw you out.

Charles’s brother James II was obsessed with turning Great Britain catholic again. After four years of trying, they kicked him and his followers out.

What effect does Shakespeare’s uneven use of iambic pentameter have on the reader? A.Readers become confused, which leads them to question the language and their understanding of it. B.The language seems familiar, allowing modern readers to better understand the meaning of the play. C.Certain lines stand out, making them seem more important than others. D.The audience focuses on the main action of the play, which keeps them engaged.

Answer:

The correct option is C (Certain lines stand out, making them seem more important than others.)

Explanation:

By breaking the unfaltering rhythm and calming heartbeat mood of lub-DUB, lub-DUB every two syllables, Shakespeare deliberately makes a discord that makes listeners’ ears liven up and pay heed. It works a similar route in melody.

At the point when a performer all of a sudden syncopates the mood or ventures out of the matchup, it makes individuals all of a sudden tune in. What’s more, similar to great performers, Shakespeare constantly figured out how to determine the discord, the syncope, after he had made his point, after he had made heard what he needed to make sure was heard, and lift the mood up once more.

Victor is reading a narrative poem about the deeds of gods and heroes. In this work, the author makes long and involved comparisons. Which figure of speech is the author using in the poem? A. simile B. epic simile C. direct metaphor D. personification

B. epic simile

An epic simile is a kind of metaphor that uses comparisons to describe an event, someone, a place, etc. by using the words “like”, “as” or “as in” and that is developed over several lines of verse, thus it is long, and which it’s more commonly found in epic poems (For example, the Iliad and the Odyssey). Its aim is to make the writing more colorful and interesting and serve as decoration to the main subject.

Here is an example of an epic simile from the Odyssey by Homer: “Her mind in torment, wheeling like some lion at bay, dreading the gangs of hunters closing their cunning ring around him for the finish.”

Answer:  Media’s role as watchdog

Details:

“Watergate” refers to efforts by persons working for President Nixon’s reelection campaign to spy on their opponents at Democratic party headquarters, and subsequent efforts to cover up those crimes.

The first break-in attempt by burglars working on Nixon’s behalf occurred  in May, 1972, as persons connected to the Nixon reelection campaign broke into the Democratic National Committee office in the Watergate complex of buildings in Washington, DC.  They were planting wire-taps on the Democrats’ phone lines, and also stole copies of documents.  When the wire-taps didn’t work properly, they broke in again (in June) to try to fix the surveillance devices, but they were caught.

An insider at the FBI who remained anonymous at the time, known only as “Deep Throat,” began to give information concerning Watergate to reporters Bob Woodward and Carl Bernstein of the Washington Post.   Persistent investigative reporting by Woodward and Bernstein brought the scandal to light and forced Congressional hearings.   (Note:  Years later it was revealed that Deep Throat was Mark Felt, who at the time was Associate Director of the FBI.)

Nixon’s role in Watergate was especially in his efforts and those of members of his staff to cover up what had happened.  Ultimately, the Watergate affair brought down the Nixon presidency.  He resigned in order to avoid impeachment.  And the whole affair made Americans more distrusting of government.

1. Use evidence from the play to show how Arthur Miller conveys one of the following themes:
1.         Fear and suspicion are infectious and can produce a mass hysteria that destroys public order and rationality.
2.         It is more noble to die with integrity than to live with compromised principles that harm others.

3.         The ideas of witchcraft and “the devil’s work” in The Crucible are extended metaphors for Communism.

2. Act IV opens in a Salem jail cell. It is the day when Rebecca Nurse and John Proctor are to be hanged. Both have resisted confessing up to that point, but Rev. Hale – previously unseen at the court since Proctor’s arrest – is trying to encourage their confession. Even though he knows their confession would be a lie, he wants to save their lives. Rev. Parris is also trying to get them to confess, but that’s because he wants to save his own life: since the trials began, Parris has received some not-so-subtle threats to his life. To make matters worse, Abigail has fled, taking all of Parris’s money with her.

Since Proctor went to jail, over one hundred people have restored their lives by “confessing” to witchcraft, but the town is in shambles. There are orphans, cows wandering all over the place, and people bickering over who gets whose property.

Judge Hathorne and Danforth call upon Elizabeth, still imprisoned, to talk to her husband to see if she can get him to confess. When Elizabeth finally agrees to speak with Proctor (who has been in the dungeon, separated from the other accused), the married couple finally gets a few private moments alone in the courthouse. In these warm exchanges, Elizabeth says she will not judge what Proctor decides to do, and affirms that she believes he is a good man. While Elizabeth will not judge Proctor, she herself cannot confess to witchcraft, as it would be a lie.

Proctor asks for Elizabeth’s forgiveness, and she says he needs to forgive himself. Elizabeth also says she realizes she had been a “cold wife,” which might have driven him to sleep with Abigail. She asks him for forgiveness and says she has never known such goodness in all her life as his. At first, this gives Proctor the determination to live, and he confesses verbally to Danforth and Hathorne.

But Proctor cannot bring himself to sign the “confession.” Knowing that the confession will be pinned to the church door, for his sons and other community members to see, is too much for Proctor to bear. Moreover, he will not incriminate anyone else in the town as a witch. He believes it should be enough to confess verbally and to only incriminate himself. When the court refuses this, Proctor, deeply emotional, tears up the written confession and crumples it. Shocked, Rev. Hale and Rev. Parris plead with Elizabeth to talk sense into her husband, but she realizes that this is, at last, his moment of redemption: “He have his goodness now. God forbid I take it from him!” And so he goes to his death. The curtain falls as we hear the drum beat just before John Proctor is hanged.
