During a science fair a group of students came up with the following colon is color an inherent property in objects or is it a product of the mind? why would this question be extremely difficult to answer scientifically?

There are two systems in the human body that are responsible for the coordination between the functions of different systems to achieve the unity of the living organism’s body. These two systems are the nervous system and the endocrine system. The action of the nervous system is fast and takes a short time, while the action of the endocrine system is slow and takes a long time.

The functional unit of the nervous system is the nerve cell or the neuron. The neuron consists of a cell body and the axon. The cell body starts with the dendrites that receive the messages or the impulses from other neurons or from different sense organs or receptors. These impulses are then transmitted through the cell body. The cell body contains a nucleus and different organelles which help the nerve cell to perform its functions. The nerve impulse is then transmitted to the axon.

The axon is an extension from the cell body. There are some cells called Schwan cells that secrete a myelin sheath to insulate the axon from the surrounding medium. The insulated axons have more ability to conduct the impulses than non-insulated axons. The axon ends with the terminal arborizations. The terminal arborizations of a nerve cell connect to the dendrites of the next cell or to the afferent organ. The gaps between the dendrites and the terminal arborizations are called the synapses.

The nerve impulse is an electrochemical phenomenon i.e. an electrical phenomenon with a chemical nature. The membrane of the axon acts as a barrier between an outside positively charged medium and an inside negatively charged medium. This makes a potential difference of  -70mV. This state is called the resting potential. When the membrane is subjected to a stimulus, the positive charges enter to inside and the negative charges exit to the outside. The potential difference now becomes +40mV. This state is called the depolarization state. The point of stimulation acts as a new stimulus for the next point and so on. The membrane sooner gains its permeability again and the positive charges return to the outside and the negative charges to inside. This state is called repolarization.

The nerve impulse reaches the synapse. There are some neurotransmitters that are excited by the nerve impulse coming and carry the message across the membrane. Some receptors receive theses neurotransmitters on the dendrites of the next neuron. These receptors act as a stimulus for the new cell.

An object moving at 31m/s takes 6s to come to a stop. What is the object’s acceleration?

Answer:

a) The time the police officer required to reach the motorist was 15 s.

b) The speed of the officer at the moment she overtakes the motorist is 30 m/s

c) The total distance traveled by the officer was 225 m.

Explanation:

The equations for the position and velocity of an object moving in a straight line are as follows:

x = x0 + v0 · t + 1/2 · a · t²

v = v0 + a · t

Where:

x = position at time t

x0 = initial position

v0 = initial velocity

t = time

a = acceleration

v = velocity at time t

a)When the officer reaches the motorist, the position of the motorist is the same as the position of the officer:

x motorist = x officer

Using the equation for the position:

x motirist = x0 + v · t (since a = 0).

x officer = x0 + v0 · t + 1/2 · a · t²

Let´s place our frame of reference at the point where the officer starts following the motorist so that x0 = 0 for both:

x motorist = x officer

x0 + v · t = x0 + v0 · t + 1/2 · a · t²      (the officer starts form rest, then, v0 = 0)

v · t = 1/2 · a · t²

Solving for t:

2 v/a = t

t = 2 · 15.0 m/s/ 2.00 m/s² = 15 s

The time the police officer required to reach the motorist was 15 s.

b) Now, we can calculate the speed of the officer using the time calculated in a) and the  equation for velocity:

v = v0 + a · t

v = 0 m/s + 2.00 m/s² · 15 s

v = 30 m/s

The speed of the officer at the moment she overtakes the motorist is 30 m/s

c) Using the equation for the position, we can find the traveled distance in 15 s:

x = x0 + v0 · t + 1/2 · a · t²

x = 1/2 · 2.00 m/s² · (15s)² = 225 m

Common types of possessed objects are smart cards, rfid-encoded badges, magnetic cards, ____, and smartphones that are swiped through or placed close to a reader to be read.

The answer would be B. Dome-Type. V-Type engines are some of the most common, with abbreviations such as V6, V8, etc. In-Line engines are where the cylinders are in a straight line. Horizontally opposed engines or ‘flat’ engines are where the cylinders are on a flat plane. Therefore the only type of engine *configuration* is B. Dome-Type.

Dome-type relates to the cylinder design, where the piston has a convex dome to maximize the efficiency.

Hope this helps.

Answer:

Henri Rousseau’s Portrait of a Woman

Explanation:

Magical Realism finds precedent in eighteenth-century Gothic novels, but also connects with sixteenth-century Baroque or Surrealism, almost contemporary in the early twentieth century.

Among the most striking features of this movement, we find the blend of realism with pure unreality that is observed as normal, with the integration of magical elements without seeming extraordinary.

These works do not explain the supernatural elements and are narrated as something natural, with characters unaware of their transcendent dimension. In addition, death has paramount value in the relativistic discourse of truth, with a metaphysical focus on space and time and an intimate atmosphere that blends characters with myths, legends, and natural cultures.

Henri Rousseau’s Portrait of a Woman is considered one of the first magical realistic stories.

. A pencil (m = 10 g) and eraser (m = 20 g) are placed 2.5 cm apart. If they are left on a surface without friction they will eventually come into contact with one another. Assuming that the pencil is the object to move, how long (in hours) will it take the two objects to touch?

The gravitational force Fg between two objects is given by the equation:

Fg=(G*m₁*m₂)/r₂, where G=6.67*10^-11 m³ kg⁻¹ s⁻² is the gravitational constant, m₁ and m₂ are the masses of the two bodies and r is the distance between those bodies.

Due to the gravitational attraction the pencil and the eraser will attract if we there is no friction on the surface.

m₁=10 g=0.01 kg is the mass of the pencil
m₂=20 g=0.02 kg is the mass of the eraser
r=2.5 cm = 0.025 m

First we calculate the Fg:

Fg={(6.67*10^-11)*0.01*0.02}/(0.025²)=2.1344*10^-11 N

To get the velocity v of the pencil:

v²=2as, where a is the acceleration of the pencil and s is the path. In our case s=r so we can write:

v²=2ar

a=Fg/m₁= 2.133*10^-9 m/s²

v²=2*(2.133*10^-9)*0.025=1.0665*10^-10

v=√(1.0665*10^-10)=1.0327*10^-5 m/s

We have the velocity and the acceleration, so we can calculate the time t with the equation:

t=v/a=(1.0327*10^-5)/(2.133*10^-9)=4841.6 s

1 hour has 3600 s so when we divide time t in seconds by 3600 we get time T in hours:

T=t/3600=4841.6/3600=1.3449 h.

So the time for the pencil and eraser to touch is T=1.3449 hours.

Also time T can be expressed like T= 1h and 20 mins and 41.64 s

Which two objects attract each other? A. a proton and an electron B. two electrons C. a proton and a neutron D. two protons

Answer:

only one: a sky diver falling at a constant speed

Explanation:

Let’s recall that acceleration is a change in velocity, which means either a change in the speed of an object or a change in its direction.

let’s now analyze each situation:

– a race car going around a circular track at 150 mph –> here the direction of motion is changing, so the object is accelerating

a sky diver falling at a constant speed –> here both the speed and the direction are constant, so the object is NOT accelerating

– a heavy box sliding across the floor, after being released  –> here the speed is changing (In particular, it will decrease, as the friction will slow down the box), so the object is accelerating

– a bowling ball colliding with a pin –> here the speed is changing (when the ball colides with the pin, it slows down), so the object is accelerating

– a vibrating guitar string –> the speed of the vibrating string changes during the vibration (and the direction as well), so the object is accelerating

– a baseball flying through the air –> the speed of the baseball is changing (because there are unbalanced forces acting on the flying ball: the gravity and the air resistance), so the object is accelerating

– a child swinging on a swing –> the speed of the child is changing (and the direction as well) during the oscillation, so the object is accelerating

So, there is only 1 situation in which objects are NOT accelerating:

a sky diver falling at a constant speed

In baillargeon’s view, infants have a pre-adapted, innate bias called the principle of _____ that explains their assumption that objects do not change their properties unless some external factor obviously intervenes.

‘D’ and ‘E’ are definitely not good answers. You can’t measure ‘bias’, so ‘A’ and ‘B’ are out of the question. Best answer is C. Because Biased people can change the outcome but gerrymandering is manipulating boundaries.

Do not hold me against this answer, this is just my opinion, hope this helps or affects your insight in a positive way.

Nutritional needs can be described as Changing, through life
for Example :
When we are young, we could basically have no problem with our digestive system even if we do not fulfill our daily fiber need
But as we got older, we could no longer digest food as well as we’re young, so we need to change our daily diet into somethings that have more fiber.

From the example above, we can see how our nutritional needs are changing throughout our life

A century ago studies of objects were largely studies of material culture and the technology available to people living in small-scale societies with simple technologies. the modern anthropological approach to objects has done which of the following?

The West has significantly impacted the non-western, developing world during the modern period. This has caused both positive and negative consequences. One of the most negative consequences of this relationship is colonialism. During the modern period, much of the developing world was a colony of European powers. These  countries took many of the resources of underdeveloped places, while at the same time controlling their political and social life.

Another impact that the Western world had on the non-Western one is the process of Westernization. Because of the legacy of colonialism, many countries began to adopt cultural, religious and institutional traits that resembled those of Europe, and afterwards, those of North America. Sometimes, this meant that some of the elements of the local culture were damaged or forgotten.

Finally, in more recent years, the Western, European world has become interested in the non-Western world in ways that are more altruistic. Humanitarian aid has become a common feature of international politics, and they attempt to improve the standards of living of the developing world.

URGENT: When a bat hits a ball, the impulse is A)The change in velocity multiplied by force* B) The mass multiplied by force C) The mass multiplied by acceleration D) The force multiplied by the time the objects are in contact *I think it’s A

Let us assume that pulley is mass less.

Let the tension produced at both ends of the pulley is T.

We are asked to calculate the acceleration of the block.

Let the masses of two bodies are denoted as m_{1} and m_{2} respectively

Let m_{1} =1 kg and m_{2} =2 kg

As per this diagram, the body having mass 1 kg is moving downward and the body having mass 2 kg is moving on the surface of the table.

Let the acceleration of each block is a .

For body having mass 1 kg:

The net force acting on 1 kg body will be-

                             m_{1} g-T=m_{1} a        [1]

Here tension in the rope will be vertically upward and weight of the body will be in vertical downward direction.

For body having mass 2 kg:

The coefficient of kinetic friction [mu]=0.13

Hence the frictional force F=mu N

                                                     F=mu m_{2} g

Hence the net force acting on the body having mass 2 kg-

                                  T-mu m_{2} g=m_{2} a  [2]

Here the tension of the rope is towards right i.e along the direction of motion of the 2 kg block and frictional force is towards left.

Combining 1 and 2 we get-

                           m_{1} g-T=m_{1}a             [1]

                           T-mu m_{2}g= m_{2} a   [2]

                           —————————————————

                           [m_{1} -mu m_{2} ]g=[m_{1} +m_{2} ]a

                           a=frac{m_{1}-mu m_{2}} {m_{1}+ m_{2}}*g

                           a=frac{1-[2*0.13]}{1+2} *9.8 m/s^2

                           a=frac{0.74}{3} *9.8 m/s^2

                           a=2.417 m/s         [ans]

PLEASE HELP12. True or false:. 2 objects with different masses aremoving at the same velocity. The object with more masswill have more momentum.How many nodes?How many antinodes?14, What type of interference is about to occur in thispicture?

The correct answer to the question is – oppose the flow of current through substances.

EXPLANATION:

From Ohm’s law, we know that current [ I ] flowing a wire is directly proportional to the potential difference [ V ] maintained across the two ends of the conductor at constant temperature and pressure.

Mathematically  V ∝ I .

                         ⇒ V = IR .

Here, R is the proportionality constant called resistance of the wire.

From above, we see that current flowing through a wire is inversely proportional to the resistance. It means that the current flow will be less with the increase of resistance of the wire.

Hence, resistance can be defined as the opposition to the flow of current in an electric wire.

1- The correct answer is D. The region that contained the most Russian missile sites in Cuba during the Cuban Missile Crisis was Pinar del Rio, as the majority of Russian Missile were located in the northwest coast of the island.

2- The correct answer is D. In Cuba, Soviet tank units were deployed in the ports of Havana and Cienfuegos.

The USSR also used the radioelectronic intelligence center in Lourdes (south of Havana), set up in 1967 and located 250 kilometers from the United States, which allowed the interception of radio data in almost all American territory.

3- The correct answer is A. The Line of Demarcation was established near the 38th Parallel because it divided Korea into two equal halves.

After Japan’s surrender in World War II in 1945, the parallel was established as the boundary between the Soviet (North) and American (South) occupation zones. The parallel divided the Korean peninsula approximately in half. In 1948 the line became the border between the two newly created nations; South Korea and North Korea.

4- The correct answer is B, Central America.

The Good Neighbor Policy was a political initiative created and presented by the Franklin D. Roosevelt’s administration in the framework of the 7th Pan American Conference in December 1933 regarding its relations with Latin America during the 1933- 1945, when the intervention of the United States in the internal affairs of the Latin American countries was appeasing (the United States had openly invaded several countries of the region in the first years of the 20th century, such as Cuba, Mexico, Haiti, Panama, the Dominican Republic or Nicaragua. ).

5- The correct answer is D. Cuba was a serious threat to the United States during the Cold War because its proximity to the American territory made it possible for large-scale missile attacks. Cuba is only 93 miles far away from Florida, so it constituted a great menace during the Cold War.

The correct answer is C) The state budget process is more organized, with state governors and state legislators sharing responsibility.

The historic Budget-making process as described in this excerpt compares to the modern way that states create Budget in that the state budget process is more organized, with state governors and state legislators sharing responsibility.

In the process of developing a state Budget, there are many participants. These members are guided by laws, public priorities in the expenditure and economic or political variables. Most states develop budgets on a traditional incremental basis. The states start with a baseline of the last year Budget. The states receive the help of the Budget Processes National Association of State Budget Officers(NASBO).

The participants in the elaboration of Budget are the state budget office, the state agencies, the state legislature, and the governor, who has the veto power.
