Adam Smith, the premier philosopher of capitalism, took the position that ___.

However, they also point out that it’s OK to have an unusual kind of family structure. On One Tree Hill, for example, Lucas is being raised by a single mom, and he has a close relationship with his uncle, but his dad isn’t completely out of the picture. On a teen show such as iCarly, on Nick, Carly’s older brother plays the role of guardian, because her dad is in the Air Force. Her mom is never really spoken of.

2. I do feel that most of the portrayal of family is accurate, on TV. Modern shows have steered away from the conventional “Mom, Dad, 2.5 kids plus dog” formula, which is accurate, because not all TV watchers are fortunate enough to have that kind of situation. See above answer for specific examples.

3. I think that a definite negative theme in today’s modern shows, revolve around views on alcohol and drugs. Obviously everyone is entitled to their own views, but more often than not, after a character drinks, or does something they shouldn’t, they panic about what their parents will do once they find out. This panic may lead them to increasingly dangerous situations. For example, in OTH, Nathan is drinking, and then goes out to drive his girlfriend’s car. When he crashes it into another car, he realizes the trouble he is in, and leaves the scene of the accident; thus potentially getting him in even more trouble. I realize that TV is in no way an accurate depiction of all life aspects, and it is “only TV”, but I think Nathan should have faced the consequences right away, because by running from the scene, he only put himself in danger of being caught, or arrested. Again, though, I’m reading too much into it.

Which philosopher most influenced Jefferson’s writing in the Declaration of Independence? a)Rousseaub)Beccariac)Locked)Montesquieu

Christianity, Christianity undergone many trials, whom which it passed. From the persecution of the Jews, Persecution from the Roman Empire, and the Acceptance of the Roman Empire. How did it survived those ordeals? I’ll explain how.

Christianity started as a cult of a Man named Jesus of Nazareth, he gathered twelve apostles, travelled throughout Palestine, preaching the word of God, and ending up in Jerusalem, being banished to death by the Jews. After being put to the cross, he was buried in a cave. After three days, news spread about his awakening, Christianity gained recognition and the Apostles spread the word of God to different parts of the world. After being tolerated by the Romans, Emperor Nero (Nero is the famed “666” in the Bible) put the Roman Capitol, Rome ablaze and blamed Christians for the catastrophe. Time passed on, many undergone trials, and many hiding in plain sight. Then came the period of Two Roman Empires, one led by Emperor Maxientus and one led by Constantine. He dreamt of a fiery blaze that inscripted that said, “onto this sign you shall conquer” he put an end on his enemies, tolerated Christianity, and became the first Roman Emperor to be Christian. As time passed, schism began, and the Christian faith is split into two, East and West. Time came by, there gone the crusades, an evidence that the people trust and believe in the Church. As time gone, colonisation started, Spain going to the Americas, and to The Philippines, spreading the word of God. Few years passed, another schism happened, the already split faith became split into several Lutheran groups. Now the world has heard the word of God, they responded to the message and expanding the grasp of Christianity further.

The British philosopher john Locke believed in pantheism. What is pantheism?

Answer:

Many Americans believed that government intervention was contrary to a privatized economic system.

Explanation:

The Great Depression, also known as the Crisis of 29, was a great global economic crisis that lasted during the 1930s, in the years before the Second World War. Its duration depends on the countries analyzed, but in the majority it began around 1929 and lasted until the late 1930s or early 1940s. It was the longest depression in time, of greater depth and the one that affected more countries in the 20th century. In the 21st century it has been used as a paradigm of the extent to which a serious deterioration of the economy on a world scale can occur.

The so-called Great Depression originated in the United States, after the stock market crash on Tuesday, October 29, 1929 (known as Crac on the 29th or Black Tuesday, although five days earlier, on October 24, the Thursday Black), and quickly spread to almost every country in the world.

The depression had devastating effects in almost all countries, rich and poor, where insecurity and misery were transmitted as an epidemic, so that they fell: national income, tax revenues, business profits and prices. International trade fell between 50% and 66%. Unemployment in the United States increased to 25%, and in some countries it reached 33%, cities around the world were severely affected, especially those that depended on heavy industry, and the construction industry stopped practically in many areas. Agriculture and rural areas suffered from falling crop prices, which reached approximately 60%. Given the fall in demand, the areas dependent on the primary sector industries, with few alternative sources of employment, were the most affected.

Which teacher and philosopher stressed the importance of practicing manners and treating others with respect?

Thomas Hobbes: Leviathan> In the Leviathan Hobbes (1587-1666) assumes that men are selfish and that the world does not satisfy all their needs, which makes them hostile to others. This would be the state of nature, where all would fight against all seeking individual interests. For peace of mind, men must give up some liberties. For this, all men make a Social Contract, giving moderating power to the State.

John Locke: 2nd Treaty on Civil Government> Locke contradicts Hobbes by arguing that the state of nature could not be a war of all against all, but a state of perfect freedom, without any form of subordination or subjection, all men being equal in power. In this context, men would be judges of their own causes and therefore the punishments would be extreme, which made them create a pact for the mutual conservation of life, through the Social Contract.

Jean Jacques Rousseau: The Social Contract> Unlike Hobbes and Lock, Rousseau considers man naturally good in the state of nature, and tries to explain the reason for the revocation of man’s freedom through the Social Contract. His conclusion is that in the civil state power relations may be disproportionate and the preservation of man’s well-being in civil society would depend on a hierarchy of socially instituted power.

William Blackstone: Commentaries on the Laws of England> Commentaries on the Laws of England> Introduces the “common law” of the people before the institutionalization and the evolution of the laws in England. His work of four volumes is a milestone for being the first that dealt with legal principles in a tangible way for lay people.

Permit me to say a bit more about John Locke, the philosopher — as important background to the American Revolution.

The American founding fathers read Locke (as well as other Enlightenment writers).  The American Revolution (1775-1783) was inspired by ideas such as those of Locke.  John Locke (1632-1704) argued for the idea of a “social contract.”  According to his view, a government’s power to govern comes from the consent of the people themselves — those who are to be governed.  This was a change from the previous ideas of “divine right monarchy” — that a king ruled because God appointed him to be the ruler.  Locke repudiated the views of divine right monarchy in his First Treatise on Civil Government.  In his Second Treatise on Civil Government, Locke argued for the rights of the people to create their own governments according to their own desires and for the sake of protecting their own life, liberty, and property.

Which of President Johnson’s actions led directly to his impeachment by Congress?

Answer:

He fired the Secretary of War in violation of the Tenure of Office Act.

Explanation:

Republican radical lawmakers twice tried the Supreme Court to intervene against President Andrew Johnson. Unable to succeed in these attempts, the same deputies found in the 1867 Tenure of Office Act, the prerogative to open a process of impeachment against Andrew Johnson in 1868. With only one year in force, that law provided that the president of the Republic could dismiss its secretaries of State without the Congress authorization.

On August 12, 1867, Jonhson had not observed the Tenure of Office Act and had removed the Secretary of War (named for Lincoln) Edwin Stanton. Stanton was allied with the radicals. His departure was the breach used for the impeachment process to begin.

How did the second continental congress influence the conflict between the colonists and britain?

The Second Continental Congress was the second meeting of the colonies’ delegates in Philadelphia on May 10, 1775. The delegates, including George Washington, Thomas Jefferson, Benjamin Franklin, and John Adams, were elected in part by colonial assemblies and in part by the provincial congresses that had sprung up to replace those rebellious legislatures dissolved by royal governors. The Congress commissioned Washington to organize a continental army and assume responsibility for the siege of Boston. It formulated regulations for the conduct
for trade; issued paper money; and sent emissaries abroad to negotiate with foreign powers for financial, diplomatic, and military assistance. Most of the delegates, including Washington , still hoped for reconciliation with Britain, but by the end of 1775 this possibility had faded. In August the British monarch had issued a proclamation ” for suppressing rebellion and sedition ” in the colonies and in September had hired 20,000 Hessians. Two days later Congress approved a formal Declaration of Independence. It caused war against Britain.

The location o the Ottoman Empire had an impact on the

The Ottoman Empire dominated trade routes between Europe/the Mediterranean and Asia. It had a virtual monopoly over these trade routes from the early 1400s through the early 1500s. However, by 1500 European ships had become ocean-worthy and sailors (beginning with da Gama) found the sea route to Asia around the southern cape of Africa. Though the land route to Asia through Ottoman territory was shorter and more direct, the ocean route around Africa could be faster and was not vulnerable to blockade by the Turks. The Ottoman Empire gradually lost some of its wealth due to the shifting trade, but it remained the singlest greatest power in Eastern Europe and the Eastern Mediterranean until the late 1600s.

So, the most important impact of the Ottoman Empire on global trade was that its power in the 1400s and 1500s forced European nations to invest in ocean-going navigation and exploration in order to sail to Asia rather than go through Ottoman land routes.
