Read the excerpt from the US Supreme court case Plessy v. Ferguson (1896). The statute of Louisiana, acts of 1890, c. 111, requiring railway companies carrying passengers in their coaches in that State, to provide equal, but separate, accommodations for the white and colored races, by providing two or more passenger coaches for each passenger train, or by dividing the passenger coaches by a partition so as to secure separate accommodations; and providing that no person shall be permitted to occupy seats in coaches other than the ones assigned to them, on account of the race they belong to; and requiring the officer of the passenger train to assign each passenger to the coach or compartment assigned for the race to which he or she belong; and imposing fines or imprisonment upon passengers insisting on going into a coach or compartment other than the one set aide for the race to which he or she belongs; and conferring upon officers of the train power to refuse to carry on the train passengers refusing to occupy the coach or compartment assigned to them, and exempting the railway company from liability for such refusal, are not in conflict with the provisions either of the Thirteenth Amendment or of the Fourteenth Amendment to the Constitution of the United States. Which best explains why the Supreme Court’s decision in Plessy v. Ferguson was unconstitutional? The Supreme Court’s ruling allowed states to deny equal protection to any person within its jurisdiction. Since the 14th Amendment did not make concessions for people born outside the US, the Supreme Court’s decision could not be applied. The Supreme Court’s decision gave individual states the freedom to make their own laws in relation to non-whites. Since segregation laws did not provide equal protections or liberties to non-whites, the ruling was not consistent with the 14th Amendment.

Hey there!

Correct answer is D. Comma or Period Inside Rule

A. Question mark or exclamation point inside: those are not really necessary.

B. Colon or semicolon: not, a semicolon would divide the whole sentence and it would be shorten; a colon would work but after requested, when there is already a comma.

C. Question mark or Exclamation Point Outside Rule: would not work, becase it is an very polite and affirmative sentence.

D: A comma or period inside rule: actually, just a comma would work. Please, Cooper’s dad requested, go… Cooper’s dad requested must be in between commas as it is a vocative.

Hope this helps

There are three main ways African religions communicate with the supernatural. Brief description to each is found below.

Supreme God
They worshipped the Supreme God through constant communion with lesser deities and ancestral spirits. This is done by performing libation or sacrifice — offering animals, vegetables, food, flowers and other precious materials.

Divination
This is the term given when consulting to oracular deities. There are a lot of techniques on casting divination, but actual practice is done with small objects e.g. bones, shells, stones, leathers or wood pieces.

Cyclical nature of reality
Believing that nature is an integral part of their religion. So, all natural phenomena is thought to be responsible for their daily needs. This encloses aspects such as tides, moon, rain, day, sun, stars, etc.

A country uses as currency coins with values of 1 peso, 2 pesos, 5 pesos, and 10 pesos and bills with values of 5 pesos, 10 pesos, 20 pesos, 50 pesos, and 100 pesos. find a recurrence relation for the number of ways to pay a bill of n pesos if the order in which the coins and bills are paid matters.

In order to find the recurrence relation, find first the pattern by writing the terms.

If one pays a certain amount of pesos (n) , it could be shown as follows:
To pay 1 peso –              then n-1 peso
To pay 2 peso coin-       then n-2 peso if n≥2
To pay 5 peso coin-       then n-5 peso if n≥5
To pay 10 peso coin-     then n-10 peso if n≥10
To pay 5 peso bill-         then n-5 peso if n≥5
To pay 10 peso bill-       then n-10 peso if n≥10
To pay 20 peso bill-       then n-20 peso if n≥20
To pay 50 peso bill-       then n-50 peso if n≥50
To pay 100 peso bill-     then n-100 peso if n≥100

A₀ = 1
The pattern being each new option is part of the recurrence relation. Therefore:
(note: n-1, n-2,… and so on are subscript of A)

An = An−1+An−2+An−5+An−10+An-5+ An-10+An−20+An−50+An−100An
An = An−1+An−2+2An−5+2An−10+An−20+An−50+An−100An

1. The purpose of this exercise is to provide practice using the LINGO or Excel solvers. Find the values of X and Y that minimize the function Min X 2 – 4X + Y 2 + 8Y + 20 Do not assume nonnegativity of the X and Y variables. Recall that by default LINGO assumes nonnegative variables. In order to allow the variables to take on negative values you can add @FREE(X); @FREE(Y); Alternatively, if you want LINGO to allow for negative values by default, in the LINGO menu select Options and then click General Solver, and then uncheck the Variables assumed nonnegative tab.

Find the minmum value of x^2-4x+y^2+8y+20=?
we don’t know what it’s equal to, so we set it equal to ?, if you know that ? is, then input it
what we can do is try to convert it to a conic section
complete the squares

(x^2-4x)+(y^2+8y)+20=?
take 1/2 of linear coefient and square it and add negative and positive insde (linear is 1st degree)

(x^2-4x+4-4)+(y^2+8x+16-16)+20=?
factor perfect squares
((x-2)^2-4)+((y+4)^2-16)+20=?
(x-2)^2-4+(y+4)^2-16+20=?
(x-2)^2+(y+4)^2=?

we see this is the equation of a circle
in form
(x-h)^2+(y-k)^2=r^2
center is (h,k)
radius is r
so the lowest point is r  units down from (h,k), or the point (h,k-r)

we know that te equation is
(x-2)^2+(y-(-4))^2=?
?=r^2
√?=r
center is (2,-4)
therefor
the minimum value, where the equation is equal to ?, is (2,-4-√?)
good luck, and may the force be with you

Find a polynomial function f(n) such that f(1), f(2), … , f(8) is the following sequence.2, 8, 14, 20, 26, 32, 38, 44

We can recognize the sequence is an arithmetic progression by noticing that the common difference between each term is 6.
f(n) = a+(n-1)d
where f(n) is the sequence
n is the term number
d is the common difference
and a is the starting term

We are well aware that our starting term, and hence a, is 2 and our difference, and hence d, is 6.
So our polynomial function is
f(n) = 2+6(n-1)

Does the relation s={(5.2). (3.2), (4,2)? state the domain and range

Answer:

1. The number of wheels in the parking lot is based on the number of cars in the parking lot.

B) Yes, because the number of wheels is specific to the number of cars in the parking lot. Because each car has four wheels. So, the wheels are  dependent on cars.

2. We can see the dots on each axis. These are like :

C) {(–5, 4), (–2, –1), (–1, 3), (4, –3)}

3. D) An input is the value that determines another based on the relation or the function rule, usually the x-values in a set of ordered pairs or on a table or graph. For each input there is an output.

4. The expression is :

y=3x^{2} +1

When input or x = 4

So, y=3(4)^{2} +1

=>y=(3times16) +1

=y=48+1

=> y=49 (option C)
