Which future president led the Rough Riders in an attack on San Juan Hill? William McKinley Franklin Roosevelt Rutherford B. Hayes Theodore Roosevelt

[ad_1]

1- The correct answer is B, as one result of the Great Society was that the lives of many underprivileged Americans improved.

The Great Society was a set of US national reform programs announced by President Lyndon B. Johnson for the first time in a speech at Ohio University on May 7, 1964 and more fully illustrated on May 22, 1964 at the University of Michigan. These reform programs were subsequently presented to the Congress of the United States and largely approved during the 1960s, thanks to the consent of its supporters of the Democratic Party.

Two main goals of social reforms were the elimination of poverty and racial injustice. During this period new large spending programs were launched in the fields of education, medical care, urban problems and transport. Johnson’s “Great Society” was linked, in its objectives and policies, to President Franklin Delano Roosevelt’s New Deal program.

Some proposals of the Great Society resumed initiatives contained in the New Frontier program, interrupted by the tragic death of President John F. Kennedy. Johnson’s success in promoting and endorsing his reforms depended on his considerable congressional political influence, his persuasion, and the favorable historical circumstances resulting from the 1964 presidential elections, which allowed the Democratic Party to dominate Congress and to elect the House of Representatives with the largest number of exponents of the liberal current since 1938.

The evolution of the Vietnam war and the massive involvement of the American military machine in the conflict, however, partly undermined the success of the “Great Society” program. Growing, huge expenditures for the continuation of the war made more difficult to finance the reform programs. Representatives of the Democratic Party against the war in Vietnam complained that military spending decisively stifled the Great Society program. On the whole, however, despite growing political and economic difficulties, which forced the administration to eliminate or reduce the financing of some projects, President Johnson managed to activate a series of programs of great importance, including Medicare, Medicaid, the Older Americans Act and the federal education funding, which are still active.

2- The correct answer is C, as the Immigration and Nationality Act of 1965 was necessary because the previous existing American immigration policies were discriminatory.

On October 3, 1965, President Lyndon B. Johnson signed the law into effect, saying: “The [old] system violates the basic principle of American democracy, the principle according to which the valuation and reward of each man should be established on the basis of his merits as a man. It has been anti-American in the highest sense, because it has been unfaithful to the faith that led thousands to these shores, even before we were a country. ”

What task is not part of writing a rough draft?

[ad_1]

Here are a few pointers; hope this is useful)

Ovation-by definition- is show of appreciation from an audience, for a person’s accomplishments or flaw.

“Everyone deserves a standing ovation because we all overcometh the world.”

A person’s accomplishment could be how they made a positive change in this world, strong leadership- that makes them a effective leader or simply helping others. A person’s flaw- mistakes in life, sin or even guilt should also be considered an appreciation- an ovation for representing mankind’s flaw and that humanity makes mistakes, fulfilling at least one deadly sin such as greed, lust, selfishness etc.

Thus, regardless of a person’s achievement or flaw- a person deserves an applause for, not the least, living in this society and this world that we are all living together and dying together.

That was just the introduction.. the best part is yet to come.. now it’s your turn!!

Here are other pointers to talk about in your essay:

Shakespeare’s famous line “All the World’s a stage. That agrees with your line: “Everybody deserves a standing ovation…”

Shakespeare explains that men and women are like players: they live, and die, some being celebrated and some forever living in solitude till their death. Shakespeare states the world is a “stage” which symbolizes that mankind is in its peak. The world is changing everyday: little by little and humanity is falling behind.
Due to our world turning into machinery: factories, an automotive future: where humans only job to live (entrance) and to die (exit) the famous humans remembered and the flawed not recalled.

This is according to Shakespeare’s imagery.

I don’t know what grade your in, but I think simplifying Shakespeare’s word of mouth in your essay would be handy and useful as it has strong references of your quote, and agrees strongly in your essay.

Hope this helps 🙂

In the figure, a 700-kg crate is on a rough surface inclined at 30°. a constant external force p = 5600 n is applied horizontally to the crate. as the force pushes the crate a distance of 3.00 m up the incline, the speed changes from 1.40 m/s to 2.50 m/s. how much work does gravity do on the crate during this process?

[ad_1]

The gravitational force Fg between two objects is given by the equation:

Fg=(G*m₁*m₂)/r₂, where G=6.67*10^-11 m³ kg⁻¹ s⁻² is the gravitational constant, m₁ and m₂ are the masses of the two bodies and r is the distance between those bodies.

Due to the gravitational attraction the pencil and the eraser will attract if we there is no friction on the surface.

m₁=10 g=0.01 kg is the mass of the pencil
m₂=20 g=0.02 kg is the mass of the eraser
r=2.5 cm = 0.025 m

First we calculate the Fg:

Fg={(6.67*10^-11)*0.01*0.02}/(0.025²)=2.1344*10^-11 N

To get the velocity v of the pencil:

v²=2as, where a is the acceleration of the pencil and s is the path. In our case s=r so we can write:

v²=2ar

a=Fg/m₁= 2.133*10^-9 m/s²

v²=2*(2.133*10^-9)*0.025=1.0665*10^-10

v=√(1.0665*10^-10)=1.0327*10^-5 m/s

We have the velocity and the acceleration, so we can calculate the time t with the equation:

t=v/a=(1.0327*10^-5)/(2.133*10^-9)=4841.6 s

1 hour has 3600 s so when we divide time t in seconds by 3600 we get time T in hours:

T=t/3600=4841.6/3600=1.3449 h.

So the time for the pencil and eraser to touch is T=1.3449 hours.

Also time T can be expressed like T= 1h and 20 mins and 41.64 s

Read the following exchange between Romeo and Juliet from act I of Romeo and Juliet. What does the excerpt reveal about the love between the two young people? ROMEO: (to JULIET) If I profane with my unworthiest hand This holy shrine, the gentle fine is this: My lips, two blushing pilgrims, ready stand To smooth that rough touch with a tender kiss. JULIET: Good pilgrim, you do wrong your hand too much, Which mannerly devotion shows in this; For saints have hands that pilgrims’ hands do touch, And palm to palm is holy palmers’ kiss. ROMEO: Have not saints lips, and holy palmers too? JULIET: Ay, pilgrim, lips that they must use in prayer. Their love is based on both physical and emotional attraction. Their love is shallow and based on defying their families. Their love is driven by their intellectual needs. Their love is instant and illogical. NextReset

1- Perseus’s grandfather tries to drown him

2- Perseus takes the eye of the Grey Woman

3- Perseus cuts off Medusa’s head

4- Perseus rescues Andromada

5- Perseus turns Polydeuces to stone

An oracle had announced Acrisius, king of Argos, that he would die at the hands of his own grandson. To avoid this, Acrisius had his daughter Danae locked up in a bronze tower to prevent him from dealing with any male. However, the king of the gods, Zeus, was transformed into a rain of gold that fell on Danae from the roof and left her pregnant. Thus, the princess conceived Perseus. Upon hearing, Acrisus, not believing the birth of the child as divine, threw him with Danae into the sea in a wooden chest. The sea was calmed by Poseidon at the request of Zeus, and the mother and son survived and reached the coast of the island of Serifos. King Polidectes ruled that island, and his brother Dictis picked up the woman and the child, whom he would raise as his son.

Later, Polidectes fell in love with Danae. Thinking that the young Perseus could be a hindrance to his plans, he tried to get rid of him by a stratagem: he made everyone believe that he wanted to conquer Princess Hippodamia and asked each of the inhabitants of the island to give him a gift as present, to be able to offer it in turn to the princess. Perseus said he would not hesitate to hand over anything: even if it was to be the head of Medusa, which was one of the three Gorgons and could turn men to stone just by looking. Polidectes accepted as gifts the horses of other inhabitants of the island, but he did not accept those of Perseus, and ordered him to bring him the head of the Gorgon that he had promised him.

Perseus left, guided by the gods Athena and Hermes, in search of the daughters of Forcis: the grayas, sisters of the gorgons. The grayas were three old women who only had one eye and one tooth for all three, and they passed them to each other. Perseus snatched the eye, and, in exchange for returning it, forced them to confess where the nymphs lived, their sisters.

Thus, Perseus found the nymphs, from which he would obtain a magic bag to contain his head without danger, winged sandals and the helmet of Hades, which made invisible to whoever was wearing it. In addition, he received from Hermes a steel sickle with which he could cut the head of Medusa, and received from Athena a shield that shined like a mirror.

Armed with these objects, Perseus was introduced to the abode of the Gorgons. While the Gorgons were asleep, Perseus approached them. Athena guided the hand of Perseus, who also used as a mirror the bronze shield that the goddess had lent him to see Medusa without looking directly at her. Thus, Perseus managed to cut off the head of the Gorgon, from which the winged horse Pegasus and the giant Crisaor were born. Esteno and Euriale, the immortal sisters of Medusa, sought out Perseus but could not find him because Hades’s helmet made him invisible.

Perseus went to the country where Atlas reigned, to whom, once there, he asked for hospitality. Atlas, however, recalled that an oracle had told him that a son of Zeus would come to steal the fruits of the garden of the Hesperides, and tried to expel Perseus. This one used the head of Medusa, and Atlas was turned into stone.

Arriving in Ethiopia, Perseus found Andromeda chained to a rock: she was left there by her parents, the kings Cepheus and Cassiopeia, to be devoured by a sea monster, Ceto, who had been sent by the gods as punishment for having Cassiopeia boasted of being more beautiful than the Nereids. An oracle of Amun had said that they would only be free of the monster if Andromeda were offered as food. Perseus fell in love with Andromeda and decided to free her. After asking the hand of the princess to Cepheus and Cassiopeia, he killed the monster with his sword.

Afterwards, Perseus returned to Serifos. There, Dictis and Danae had taken refuge in a temple fleeing the harassment of Polidectes. Perseus appeared before Polidectes and before all his court, took out the head of Medusa and showed it to all the audience, which was petrified. Then he made Dictis king of Serifos, returned to Hermes the winged sandals and gave him the pouch and helmet of Hades, and handed the head of Medusa to Athena, who would put it on his shield.

Finally, Perseus decided to return to Argos, with Danae and Andromeda. Acrisius, having learned that his grandson was traveling to meet him, traveled to Larisa to watch some games. Perseus also went to those games and participated in the discus throwing, but he did so with such bad luck that he hit Acrisius in the head and killed him, thus fulfilling the prophecy. Due to this accidental death, Perseus did not want to continue governing in Argos, his legitimate kingdom. His second uncle Megapentes, Danae’s cousin, was king of Tiryns, so they exchanged the kingdom: Perseus became King of Tiryns and Megapentes of Argos.
