Answered by answersmine AT 22/10/2019 – 02:57 AM

A change in osmolarity of the solution where the cell line can be placed can be used for the same. Varying osmolarity solutions should be used and the effect of different salt concentrations can be sensed by observed shrinking/swelling of the cells, in different salt solutions.

2. Which sentence’s verbs express simultaneous events? I am pleased to have done well on the test. Having done well on the text, I will be pleased. I knew that I did well on the test. Having done well on the test, I am pleased.

[ad_1]

The correct answer is C. I knew that I did well on the test

Explanation:

Simultaneous events means when two events happen at the same time, it means there is no a difference in time between one event and the other, this simultaneity in language is usually expressed in the tense used to express the action or event, in this way, if the same tense is used to express two actions it is more likely those actions are simultaneous, as different tenses would express an explicit difference in the time the actions occurred. In the case of option C. “I knew that I did well on the test”, both actions which are “I knew” and “I did” are in simple past, which make them simultaneous, also it is possible both actions occurred at the same time as both actions can be carried out by a person at the same time. Thus, the sentence that expresses simultaneous events is C. I knew that I did well on the test, as it is the only option in which both actions are in the same tense and these actions can occur simultaneously.

The Contribution Margin per unit (CM) can be calculated
from the difference of Selling Price per unit (SP) and Total Expenses per unit
(TE).

First, let’s calculate the value of SP:

SP = Sales / Units sold

SP = $1,043,400 / 22,200 units sold

SP = $47

Second, calculate all expenses:

Direct materials per unit = $234,948 / 27,970 units
manufactured = $8.4

Direct labor per unit = $131,459 / 27,970 units
manufactured = $4.7

Variable manufacturing overhead per unit = $240,542 / 27,970
units manufactured = $8.6

Variable selling expenses per unit = $113,220 / 22,200
units sold = $5.1

TE = $26.8

Therefore the CM is:

CM = SP – TE

CM = $47 – $26.8

CM = $20.2 per unit

Optimization problem:A manufacturer determines that x employees on a certain production line will produce y units per month where . To obtain the maximum monthly production, how many employees should be assigned to the production line?**It is NOT sufficient to find an answer that you think is a max or a min without testing for relative extrema. You MUST test relative extrema at all times by using either the first or second derivative test even if you only have one critical value/point.

[ad_1]

Cal problem!

given production
P(x)=75x^2-0.2x^4

To find relative extrema, we need to find P'(x) and solve for P'(x)=0.

P'(x)=150x-0.8x^3    [by the power rule]

Setting P'(x)=0 and solve for extrema.
150x-0.8x^3=0  =>
x(150-0.8x^2)=0 =>
0.8x(187.5-x^2)=0
0.8x(5sqrt(15/2)-x)(5sqrt(15/2)+x)=0
=>
x={0,+5sqrt(15/2), -5sqrt(15/2)}   by the zero product rule.
[note: eqation P'(x)=0 can also be solved by the quadratic formula]

Reject negative root because we cannot hire negative persons.

So possible extrema are x={0,5sqrt(15/2)}

To find out which are relative maxima, we use the second derivative test.  Calculate P”(x), again by the power rule,
P”(x)=-1.6x
For a relative maximum, P”(x)<0, so
P”(0)=0  which is not <0  [in fact, it is an inflection point]
P”(5sqrt(15/2))=-8sqrt(15/2) < 0, therefore x=5sqrt(15/2) is a relative maximum.

However, 5sqrt(15/2)=13.693 persons, which is impossible, so we hire either 13 or 14, but which one?

Let’s go back to P(x) and find that
P(13)=6962.8
P(14)=7016.8

So we say that assigning 14 employees will give a maximum output.

The integumentary system covers the surface of the body is true about the integumentry system.

Explanation:

The integumentary system includes the skin, nails, glands, hairs, and nerves. Its main role is to act as a barrier to protect the body from the outside environment. It also retains body fluids, regulates body temperature, eliminates waste products, and protects against disease.

The integumentary system is the largest organ in the body that covers the surface of the body.

Thus, The integumentary system covers the surface of the body is the true statement about the integumentry system.

There are two systems in the human body that are responsible for the coordination between the functions of different systems to achieve the unity of the living organism’s body. These two systems are the nervous system and the endocrine system. The action of the nervous system is fast and takes a short time, while the action of the endocrine system is slow and takes a long time.

The functional unit of the nervous system is the nerve cell or the neuron. The neuron consists of a cell body and the axon. The cell body starts with the dendrites that receive the messages or the impulses from other neurons or from different sense organs or receptors. These impulses are then transmitted through the cell body. The cell body contains a nucleus and different organelles which help the nerve cell to perform its functions. The nerve impulse is then transmitted to the axon.

The axon is an extension from the cell body. There are some cells called Schwan cells that secrete a myelin sheath to insulate the axon from the surrounding medium. The insulated axons have more ability to conduct the impulses than non-insulated axons. The axon ends with the terminal arborizations. The terminal arborizations of a nerve cell connect to the dendrites of the next cell or to the afferent organ. The gaps between the dendrites and the terminal arborizations are called the synapses.

The nerve impulse is an electrochemical phenomenon i.e. an electrical phenomenon with a chemical nature. The membrane of the axon acts as a barrier between an outside positively charged medium and an inside negatively charged medium. This makes a potential difference of  -70mV. This state is called the resting potential. When the membrane is subjected to a stimulus, the positive charges enter to inside and the negative charges exit to the outside. The potential difference now becomes +40mV. This state is called the depolarization state. The point of stimulation acts as a new stimulus for the next point and so on. The membrane sooner gains its permeability again and the positive charges return to the outside and the negative charges to inside. This state is called repolarization.

The nerve impulse reaches the synapse. There are some neurotransmitters that are excited by the nerve impulse coming and carry the message across the membrane. Some receptors receive theses neurotransmitters on the dendrites of the next neuron. These receptors act as a stimulus for the new cell.

You need to determine the number of ways in which 30 competitors from 50 can qualify. First, you have to realize that the order is irrelevant, that is: it is the same competitor_1, competitor _2, competitor _3 than competitor_3, competitor_2, competitor_1, or any combination of those three competitors.

So, the number of ways is which 30 competitors from 50 can qualify is given by the formula of combinations, which is:

C (m,n) = m! / (n! * (m -n)! )

=> C (50,30) = 50! / (30! (50 – 30)! ) = (50!) / [30! (50 – 30)!] = 50! / [30! 20!] =

 = 47,129,212,243,960 different ways the qualifiying round of 30 competitors can be selected from the 50 competitors.

The unknown of this problem is the experimental percent of water in the compound in order to remove the water of hydrogen, given the following:

Mass of crucible, cover and contents before heating                               23.54 g
Mass of empty crucible and cover                                                            18.82 g
Mass of crucible, cover, and contents after heating to constant mass     20.94 g

In order to get the answer, determine the following:

Mass of hydrated salt used                          = 23.54 g – 18.82 g = 4.72 g
Mass of dehydrated salt after heating          = 20.94 g – 18.82 g = 2.12 g
Mass of water liberated from salt                 = 4.72 g – 2.12 g = 2.60 g

Then solve the percent of water in the hydrated salt by:

% water = (mass of water / mass of hydrated salt) x 100
% water = 2.60 g / 4.72 g x 100
% water = 55.08 % in the compound
