Label the following as either a chemical or a physical change. Melting butter _______________ Chopping a green pepper ______________ Cooking a Steak ______________ Boiling Eggs ______________ Mixing Trail Mix in a bowl ______________ Baking Asparagus at 375° F ______________

[ad_1]

The balanced chemical reaction is as shown below,

                 N₂ + 3H₂  –> 2NH₃

The equation shows that every 3 moles of hydrogen, H2, there would be 2 moles of ammonia, NH3, that is going to be formed. Using this concept, we solve for the unknown in this item.

Since we are restricted only of the number of hydrogen, it becomes our limiting reactant.

          (6 moles H2) x (2 moles NH3/3 moles H2) = 4 moles NH3

Therefore, given enough amount of N2, the amount of NH3 that can be formed out of the 6 moles of H2 is equal to 4 moles.

Which did President Andrew Jackson oppose? the spoils system the Trail of Tears the Electoral College the presidential veto power

[ad_1]

1- The correct answer is B, as one result of the Great Society was that the lives of many underprivileged Americans improved.

The Great Society was a set of US national reform programs announced by President Lyndon B. Johnson for the first time in a speech at Ohio University on May 7, 1964 and more fully illustrated on May 22, 1964 at the University of Michigan. These reform programs were subsequently presented to the Congress of the United States and largely approved during the 1960s, thanks to the consent of its supporters of the Democratic Party.

Two main goals of social reforms were the elimination of poverty and racial injustice. During this period new large spending programs were launched in the fields of education, medical care, urban problems and transport. Johnson’s “Great Society” was linked, in its objectives and policies, to President Franklin Delano Roosevelt’s New Deal program.

Some proposals of the Great Society resumed initiatives contained in the New Frontier program, interrupted by the tragic death of President John F. Kennedy. Johnson’s success in promoting and endorsing his reforms depended on his considerable congressional political influence, his persuasion, and the favorable historical circumstances resulting from the 1964 presidential elections, which allowed the Democratic Party to dominate Congress and to elect the House of Representatives with the largest number of exponents of the liberal current since 1938.

The evolution of the Vietnam war and the massive involvement of the American military machine in the conflict, however, partly undermined the success of the “Great Society” program. Growing, huge expenditures for the continuation of the war made more difficult to finance the reform programs. Representatives of the Democratic Party against the war in Vietnam complained that military spending decisively stifled the Great Society program. On the whole, however, despite growing political and economic difficulties, which forced the administration to eliminate or reduce the financing of some projects, President Johnson managed to activate a series of programs of great importance, including Medicare, Medicaid, the Older Americans Act and the federal education funding, which are still active.

2- The correct answer is C, as the Immigration and Nationality Act of 1965 was necessary because the previous existing American immigration policies were discriminatory.

On October 3, 1965, President Lyndon B. Johnson signed the law into effect, saying: “The [old] system violates the basic principle of American democracy, the principle according to which the valuation and reward of each man should be established on the basis of his merits as a man. It has been anti-American in the highest sense, because it has been unfaithful to the faith that led thousands to these shores, even before we were a country. ”

Answer: The triangle ABC translated 2 units left and 5 units upward. Te translation rule is T-2,5(x,y).

Explanation:

It is given that Randy draws triangle ABC on the coordinate plane with vertices A(7, –4), B(10, 3), and C(6, 1). After translation the coordinates of the image are A′(5, 1), B′(8, 8), and C′(4, 6).

In the translation the position of a figure charges without making any in size and shape.

Let the triangle shifts by the rule Ta,b(x,y), where a is horizontal shift and b is vertical shift then,

(x,y)rightarrow(x+a,y+b)

Since A(7,-4) and A'(5,1), therefore,

(7+a,-4+b)=(5,1)

Compare the coordinates.

a=-2

b=5

So the translation rule is T-2,5(x,y).

The Holocaust also referred to as the Shoah was a genocide in which some six million European Jews were killed by Adolf Hitler’s Nazi Germany, and the World War II collaborators with the Nazis. The victims included 1.5 million children, and constituted about two-thirds of the nine million Jews who had resided in Continental Europe. A broader definition of the Holocaust includes non-Jewish victims of the Nazi campaign of mass murder. The Romani and the Aktion T4 patients who were mentally and physically disabled are most commonly included among the broader victims, but can also include Soviet prisoners-of war, homosexuals, Jehovah’s Witnesses, Slavs – including Soviet citizens, Poles, and other Slavic ethnic groups, blacks, political opponents of the Nazis, and other smaller groups.

Which word best describes the author’s tone in this excerpt from “That Spot” by Jack London? I don’t think much of Stephen Mackaye any more, though I used to swear by him. I know that in those days I loved him more than my own brother. If ever I meet Stephen Mackaye again, I shall not be responsible for my actions. It passes beyond me that a man with whom I shared food and blanket, and with whom I mushed over the Chilcoot Trail, should turn out the way he did. I always sized Steve up as a square man, a kindly comrade, without an iota of anything vindictive or malicious in his nature. I shall never trust my judgment in men again. Why, I nursed that man through typhoid fever; we starved together on the headwaters of the Stewart; and he saved my life on the Little Salmon. And now, after the years we were together, all I can say of Stephen Mackaye is that he is the meanest man I ever knew. A:excited B:ironic C:indignant D:playful

The revision which would make the sentence more precise is the following one:

D. I would like to share my ideas and thoughts on the latest news on organic gardening.

We can say the sentence above works as a “translation” of the original one. That said, let’s check it out:

I would like to give you my thoughts:  I would like to share my ideas and thoughts.

In the context, the verb to give means to share, and the noun thoughts, in plural form, means opinions, ideas ).

...on this organic gardening movement: on the latest news on organic gardening.

The movement mentioned can be described as the effort some people have been doing towards organic gardening, and since people in general are likely aware if it, it becomes “the latest news”.

So we will use n= total number of magazines each

we start with $2n and $1.50n

then we add $2 and $1.50 =  $3.50n

with that we put $3.50 into an equation  $3.50n = $10.50

so now lets get rid of those decimals by taking 3.5 and doubling it to become 7  after that we need to double 10.5 to 21

so our new equation is 7n = 21

lets get n be itself by dividing 7 from both sides so that on the side with 7n the 7 cancels out

Finally n=21/7  which equals 3

so they both both 3 magazines each so if your looking for the total number of magazines between then they got 6 magazines

2- The correct statements about the holiday honoring Martin Luther King Jr are:

-It was first celebrated as a federal holiday in 1986.

-Many states did not celebrate the holiday for up to 15 years after it was formally adopted.

-Some senators opposed the holiday because they claimed King worked with Communists.

In conclusion, all answers are correct.

3- Before their union was recognized, car porters had to work unpaid hour before and after the train was traveling, both for “preparing” and “cleaning” tasks.

4- Women, such as Sojourner Truth, were not fully satisfied with the Fifteenth Amendment, because it granted the right to vote to all men, but not to women.

5- The Southern Christian Leadership Conference chose to protest in Birmingham, Alabama, in 1963, because it wanted to provoke harsh treatment by Bull Connor, the town’s commissioner of public safety.

The Birmingham campaign was a model of non-violent protest and confrontation, and through the media, it drew the world’s attention to racial segregation in the south. This gave relevance to King’s reputation, toppled Connor from his post, eliminated segregation in Birmingham and opened the way directly to the Civil Rights Act of 1964, which prohibited racial discrimination in the hiring of public and private services in all the United States.

6- People in African American neighborhoods who are denied mortgages and loans at a bank, despite having a good financial background, are victims of redlining.

Redlining is a discriminatory practice of denying or limiting loans to people in specific geographic areas. The term Redlining was coined by the sociologist John McKnight in the 1960s in reference to the practice of red-line delimiting the areas in which banks were to avoid investing.

You have 12 cups of granola and 8 1/2 cups of peanuts to make trail mix. What is the greatest number of full batches of trail mix you can make?

Answer:

Option A is correct.

Step-by-step explanation:

Given: Equation of Parabola, y = x² + 2x + 9

We have to find vertex of parabola.

We know that ( h , k ) is vertex of parabola in standard equation of parabola.

Standard equation of parabola, ( x – h )² = 4a (y – k )

First we rewrite the given equation into standard equation of parabola.

Consider,

y = x² + 2x + 9

using completing the square method, we get

Add 1² on both sides.

y + 1²  = x² + 2x + 9 + 1²

y + 1 – 9 = x² + 2x + 1

y – 8 = ( x + 1 )²

( x + 1 )² = y – 8

Now, By comparing

we get, Vertex = ( -1 , 8 )

Therefore, Option A is correct.
